"Jonathan!" Nancy screamed. I still hadn't found my voice, yet I was kinda glad for it. I would've probably screamed much louder than her and attract every single monster in this area.

"Nancy! Y/n!" someone faintly called. I wanted to believe it was Jonathan looking for us, but I wasn't sure what to believe anymore. Besides, our best chances of getting out of here were going to be doing this on our own.

"Jonathan! We're right here!" Nancy shrieked, running in full circles. I could've sworn that I heard the thing behind us, but I'm sure it was just my frayed nerves. Still, better to be safe than sorry.

"N-Nancy," I stammered, forcing myself to talk. "St-stop talking."

"What?"

"You're telling that thing ex-exactly where we are," I stuttered.

"Nancy! Y/n! I'm right here!" that same voice echoed.

"Jonathan!" Nancy yelled, completely ignoring what I just said. Instead, she ran around, looking for the source.

"Just follow my voice!" Jonathan pleaded. Skeptically, I followed Nancy, carefully scanning my surroundings. "Follow my voice! I'm right here!"

The terrifying growl appeared beside Nancy and me, completely throwing us off Jonathan's track. It's body was upright, making me think it was just a hunched-over human. I stood there, frozen in fear, until Nancy grabbed my hand and pulled me in the opposite direction. I let go, but stayed right by her side.

We came upon a pair of trees and ducked behind them, praying the monster would pass. Sweat beaded down my forehead, though I couldn't tell if it was from running or the fear of that thing.

The growls got closer, accompanied by low thuds. My hands gripped the side of the tree, trying to pull myself into reality.

We're going to be fine, I told myself. We'll be fine.

"Nancy! Y/n!" The voice was so much closer this time, allowing me to pin point where it was. The tree that brought us here was on Nancy's right, a dim glow dully shining through the atmosphere. "Follow my voice!"

Nancy turned back to me, looking completely lost about what to do. The growls had slightly faded, giving us the assumption the thing was twenty feet away. The tree was only five feet away, at most. I nodded my head and beckoned towards the tree.

Nancy quickly crept closer, with me right behind her. The growling had stayed at the same volume, no louder, no quieter.

When we were crouched down, ready to crawl through, the growling got louder. Not by a lot, but enough to terrify me.

"Nancy! Hurry!" I softly pleaded. Nancy tried crawling through the hole faster. Her feet disappeared, giving me the greenlight to go through.

My torso was in the tree when something sharp latched onto my ankle, pulling me back. I was dragged from the tree and back out into the open.

"LET GO!" I screamed, clawing at the ground. The monster ignored my request and dragged me closer to something rotting nearby.

Seeing the corpse sent a new dose of adrenaline in my blood. I wasn't going to end up rotting next to it. I was getting out of here.

My free foot smashed its smooth, faceless head. Its teeth tore through my skin, creating long lines across my calf and ankle. Once it fell off, I limped back to the tree, putting the least amount of pressure on my injured foot as I could. I crawled through it as fast as I possibly could, terrified that the thing was going to grab my foot again.

I emerged through the tree to an anxiously-awaiting Nancy and Jonathan. They grabbed my arms and pulled me through entirely.

"Are you ok!?" Jonathan asked. I quickly pressed my ankle beneath me. Nancy looked so shaken up, she didn't need another thing to freak out about.
