"Oh, yeah. Yeah, this will do."
Dustin and I glanced at each other, confused, before looking back to Steve.
"What exactly are you planning, Harrington?" I asked, trying to decipher his expression.
"This will do just fine," he continued, ignoring my question. "Good call, dude."
Dustin's face lit up from the compliment, a small smile on my own face. We followed the tall brunette to the middle of the junkyard and dumped the remaining meat in a pile.
"I said medium-well!" a voice yelled. We turned our heads to the source, finding Lucas and a girl I that looked vaguely familiar.
"Who's that?" Steve asked. We both looked at Dustin, waiting for his reply, but his eyes stayed glued on her. Steve and I shared a look.
"Well," I interrupted, the silence starting to becoming awkward, "now that everyone's here, I say we initiate Steve's plan. Steve, what do you need us to do?"
He pointed at the bus and explained, "That's gonna be our 'home-base'. Find as many scrap pieces of metal as you can so we can fortify it."
I gave him a thumbs up and went to do the task. The girl followed me, giving me the perfect opportunity to see who my brother was infatuated with.
"I don't think I've met you before," I admitted. "I'm Y/n Henderson."
"Dustin's older sister?" she asked. I nodded. "Well, you seem cool. I'm Max Mayfield."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," I smiled, trying to recall if I knew any Mayfields my age.
"And who's the other guy?" Max asked, grabbing a few pieces of metal.
"Steve Harrington."
"Wait, that's Steve Harrington?"
"Yeah?" I didn't think Steve was popular with the middle schoolers, but I guess I was wrong. "What, is there a fan club at the middle school, too?"
"I don't think so," she corrected. "My older brother talks about him a lot, says he's a huge douchebag."
"Who's your brother?"
"Billy Hargrove."
That's where I saw her. Billy's first day of school, she got out of his car, on a skateboard, and-
"Do you know him or something?"
Before I could stop myself, I blurted, "You're my ex's sister!"
Now it was Max's turn to look surprised. "You were dating Billy?"
"Yeah, for a few days or something," I mumbled.
"I'm guessing it was the 'best experience of your life'?" she mocked. "At least, that's how Billy would've put it."
"That's definitely one incorrect way to define it," I chuckled, putting some metal around the bus.
A metallic noise echoed in the air. I whirled around, expecting Dart to jump out and eat us all, but it was just Steve scolding the two boys.
"Why aren't you two helping?" I yelled.
"We're coming! Chill out!" Dustin snapped.

"This is a pretty sick base," I commented, complimenting our hard work on the beaten-up bus. "Let's hope it's Demogorgon proof."
"We've got the weapons in case it isn't," Steve reminded, sitting on the floor cleared of bus seats. I sat across from him and pulled out my gun, inspecting it to pass the time.
