"Y/n! Are you ready?"

"One second!" I called, trying to shove a few more shirts into my bag.

"We need to be there in twenty minutes!"

"Hold on!" I grabbed the bag and ran down the stairs to my awaiting roommate. She gestured towards the open door, trying to look professional, but failing miserably.

"After you." I stumbled out the door and to her car. I threw the bags in the back and clambered into the passenger seat as she took the driver's seat.

"Thanks again!" I panted, finally settling down. "You have no idea how big of a help this is."

"Hey, it's no big deal!" she assured. "You would've done the same for me."

"I mean, I probably wouldn't have driven you somewhere, but yeah, I would do something of equal importance," I joked, earning a laugh from her.

About ten minutes later, we arrived at the airport. I grabbed my bags and yelled, "See you next week!"

"Bye!" she waved. I waved back before running to the airport, my mind equally as frantic. I was going back to Hawkins! Did I pack everything? I was going to see Dustin and Mom again! Did I pay my rent? I was going to see the kids! Did I unknowingly pack a bomb? I was going to see Steve again!

Just the thought of Steve made my cheeks burn. How was he doing? Sure, we'd call every week, and we wrote each other letters all the time, but I doubt he had told me everything that happened. Like, what if he got fired from his job at the video store? Or he got accepted to do some internship? Or... or what if he got a girlfriend?

Nah, I was overreacting. Those were all major things in someone life, of course Steve would've told me. Or, at least, I would've told him those things. What if we weren't as close as I thought we were? Did our time apart make us grow apart?

I effortlessly passed through TSA and, after a couple hours of waiting, boarded the plane. I took my seat, anxiously waiting for the plane to take off. People flooded around me, taking various seats, including some blond guy who decided to sit next to me. I barely spared him a glance before looking back out the window.

"Hey."

I looked over to the man, who had a small smirk on his face. I mentally rolled my eyes, then greeted back, "Hi."

"I'm Carter," he said, sticking a hand out for me to shake.

"I'm Y/n." I quickly shook his hand before dropping mine back down to my lap.

"Nice to meet you, Y/n." Ok, there was no reason he had to say my name like that. "What's a pretty girl like you flying all alone for?"

Ok, this guy was starting to give me the heebie jeebies. I tried glancing around the plane for an empty spot, but every single seat was full.

"Sweetheart? You haven't answered my question."

Clenching my fist at my sides, I curtly answered, "Just going home for spring break."

"Oh? Do you go to college?"

Uh, yes? Hence the 'University of Massachusetts' hoodie I was wearing. "Yes, I do."

"Where?"

He isn't actually this dumb, right? "University of Massachusetts."

"Oh, like on your sweatshirt!"

Ah, so he can see things. "Yes, exactly. That's where I got this hoodie."

"How far in your studies are you?"
