Ethans POV:
Rory had been acting like really weird today at school, like, weirder than usual. Even Benny noticed it, and he can be pretty oblivious at times.
School was finally over for the day and Benny and I were walking home together when he started to speak.
"You don't think your parents like actually think we're dating? Do they?" He asked me nervously
"I don't know, I honestly wouldn't put it past them considering how many times they've joked about us looking like a couple" I had laughed
"Well, I'll call you later?"
"Yeah, see you" I replied as I watched Benny walk into his house and greet his grandma

Bennys POV:
I greeted my grandma as I sloppily placed my school bag next to the stair case, to bring up to my room later, and through myself on the couch next to her
"Hello Benny, how was school?" She had asked me as she closed her book she had just started a few days prior
"Fine" I mumbled with me head stuffed stuffed in the pillow
"What's wrong?" She placed a hand over my head and began to play with my hair as an act of comfort.
"Ethans parents think Ethan and I are dating or something"
"I'm going to need a little more context Benny"
"Last night Ethan had mentioned to me how he wanted to ask Sarah out but he didn't know how to so I told him to pretend I was her. So basically Ethans dad overheard Ethan confessing to me and asking me out and we didn't have enough time to explain what was really going on to him" I sighed heavily.
"Has Ethan talked about it to his parents?" She asked me softly
"He said they've been dancing around each other the whole day. He doesn't know how to bring it up in conversation"
I finally look up at my grandma and she has this weird look of pity on her face.
"It's just so painful, loving my bestfriend and having to pretend to be like weirded out when people think we're dating, you know" I sighed.
"Love can be hard and not a lot of people will understand but remember how powerful love can be"
"You say that like he likes me back" I laughed/scoffed
"Ethan is a confused boy, but I know love when I see it. Just give him time Benny"
"Ethan? Likes me? Yeah no way grandma" I laugh sourly
"I know it sounds ridiculous and impossible but don't forget I'm a witch, I know certain things when I see them."
"Ethan likes Sarah, stop trying to get my hopes up" I huff as I stood up to leave leave room but stopped when she began to speak again
"I'm not trying to get your hopes up, baby" she pauses "Ethan is scared and confused because he doesn't know how to handle his feelings towards someone who isn't a girl, let alone his bestfriend. He may like Sarah but he also likes you"
"I'm not listening to this anymore" I sigh as I collect my stuff from downstairs and head to my bedroom to call Ethan.

Ethans POV:
I had just gotten home from school when I heard my parents calling me though to the kitchen.
Instantly I knew what this was about and I could only cringe at how painful and awkward this conversation is going to be.
I slowly made my way to the Kitchen island and took a seat infront of my parents who sat on the other side of the table.
"Is there anything you want to tell us baby" My mum began
"N-no" I said suspiciously
My parents paused and sighed, clearly trying to find a good way to bring up me "dating" my bestfriend.
"You know it's ok to like a boy" My mum broke the silence
"Oh god mum, please stop talking" I sighed, starting to feel really uncomfortable
"What your mother is trying to say is that we accept you if you and Benny are together. We just wish you would've told us" My dad interrupted as he took a hold of my mums hand
"Benny and I aren't dating. You completely misheard our conversation yesterday dad. I wasn't asking him out"
"You don't have to lie to us Ethan, we're just trying to help". Ugh can my dad make this anymore awkward
"Explain to us what the conversation was about then Ethan. Help us understand better" My mum butted in
"I was practicing"
My parents gave me this weird confused look, clearly asking me to continue and for more context
"I told him I liked someone and wanted to ask them out but that I was scared so he offered to help" I continued
"Help?" My dad asked, dragging out the "L" and the "P"
"He told me to pretend he was the girl" I looked down, embarrassed to be having this conversation with my parents
It was silent for a minute while my parents processed the truth.
"That's makes more sense" My dad laughed a little, trying to lighten the mood.
"So who's the lucky girl who caught my sons attention?" My mum teased as she held my hand
I froze. I didn't know what to say. It felt weird telling them the real truth after just debunking their theory.
But I gave in.
"I-its..." I hesitated.
