AUTHOR'S POV:

In a room, Levi's squad was having dinner while Historia was talking about her past.

"I was born on a small farm in the northern region of Wall Rose." Historia said with a blank expression. "The land we farmed was owned by the malle Reiss family.
.
.
.

A young Historia was carrying hay to the stable with a smile.
.

"Some of my earliest memories are of helping out around the farm."
.

.
.

Historia was carrying a bucket of water, walking side by side of the horse enclosure when she noticed her mother, sitting under a tree, reading a book.
.

"But my mother spent all her time reading books. I never once saw her doing any work. She was a beautiful woman."
.

.
.

Historia's mother, Alma was walking towards a wagon at night, wearing fancy clothes while Historia was looking at her through the window.
.

"Every night, someone would come pick her up in a wagon and take her to the city wearing fancy looking clothes."
.

The wagon took off while Historia was still looking outside.
.

"I never thought to question the way things were."
.

She turned back and looked at a book which was opened and upside down. A drawing of a woman was on the cover of the book. Historia picked it up and began reading with a smile.
.

"But after I learned to read and write, I began reading books to imitate my mother."
.

She was looking at a drawing of a mother, holding her child.
.

"Only then did I learn how alone I was. In every book read. parents would care for their children. There were stories about children talking, hugging, and fighting with their parents."
.

.
.

Historia was looking at Alma with a smile who was sitting under a tree, reading a book.
.

"I had never experienced any of those things. Ane day I got curious enough to try hugging my mother."
.

She slowly walked towards her but stopped a few feet from her. The smile was still on her face.
.

"I wanted to know how she would react to it."
.

"Mother!" Historia said and jumped on Alma's lap, making her gasp.

Alma grabbed her face and threw her away.

Historia rolled down and sat up with a bloody nose. She quickly covered her face with her palm.
.

"She shoved me away, but for the first time ever he had acknowledged my presence."
.

Despite Alma's act, Historia looked at her with a smile, blood still dripping from her nose.
.

"So, ultimately I was happy."
.

Alma stood up, still holding the book. She looked at Historia with a hateful look.

"If only I could bring myself to kill you..." Alma said.

She wiped her tears and walked away, leaving a confused Historia behind, who was looking at her with wide eyes, mouth open.
.

"Those were the first words my mother spoke to me."
.

.
.

Alma was walking on a dirt road, carrying a hand bag and a suitcase.
