He held a worn polaroid in his hands and gently outlined the date that he never wanted to forget with his fingers. Was that day so magical? Nick did not know how to describe all the emotions that he experienced then, and even now only a bitter sweet aftertaste left of them.
In the picture that some passerby took, they looked so insanely happy. He looked at the photo and seemed to be immersed in that day again. It was as if he saw again how a sly golden ray of light, breaking through dense thunderclouds on the horizon of the sky, met with the golden hair of his lover. He could hear the ocean waves beating against the small pebbles of the beach and felt the fast and heavy beating of both of their hearts. He felt full, he felt loved and cared for. He felt safe and sound when icy arms wrapped around his waist, when warm lips pressed against a prickly cheek.
It was their cliche moment, when everything seemed like it was just the two of them. The dream came true, but the accompaniment of a roll of thunder far away gave an impression of what was about to happen.
