It had been a few days since Kotori's birthday. Mori still hadn't contacted Kageyama despite saving his number in her phone. She argued with herself over and over. Do it because this is for your daughter! But he's been an asshole up until this point. He didn't know he had a kid until recently, cut him some slack. And what if this all backfires? At least he can't say you didn't try with him.
So she texted him.
Mori: Hey this Mori. Your letter was cute
She waited a few minutes and gave up hope. Of course he wouldn't reply. It was a dumb idea to start with. She shouldn't have gotten her hopes-
PING!
Kageyama: hey thanks for reaching out.
He...he actually replied to her. Maybe this won't be a total failure.
Mori: so did u actually mean what your wrote? About wanting to step up and be a dad?
Kageyama: of course! I really am sorry for being such a jerk but now I wanna change. She's my kid after all
Mori: okay
Mori: but I can't just let you in her life out of no where. I wanna make sure you 100% in it
Kageyama: understandable
What can I do to prove I'm all in?
Mori: we can start by being in each other lives consistently
Learning to have a healthy relationship
Kageyama: whatever it takes, I'll do it
Mori: okay, thank you for reaching out
Kageyama: Np it was nice talking to you again
Mori: See u soon
Mori felt back keeping Kageyama from his daughter but she needed to be 100% sure of this. She didn't want him to be her daughter's first heartbreak. She needed to be a mom before anything else. It also felt nice to just imagine not doing it alone as a parent. Of course Mori had her cousin, Oikawa, and her friend, Iwaizumi supporting her but they're weren't responsible Kotori. They didn't contribute to her creation neither did they have any choice in it. It just so happened they had a relationship to Mori.
So many ideas swirled on Mori's head like how her relationship with Kageyama would change. Would they ever live together? Would they ever get back together? Just friends that share a child? How would his family react? She imagined being the professional volleyball player's wife.

Kissing him goodbye before he went for practice and handing him a lunch bag full of her cooking. "Where's my babygirl? Can't leave without love from my baby." He said looking around the room. "I'm here daddy!" Kotori yelled as she ran over to her father. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail and she wore his oldest volleyball jersey. "I'm ready daddy, let's go play." She had a book bag with her, presumably filled with toys and a ball. Both her parents laughed seeing her look exactly like him when he started playing. The scene was too cute not to capture on camera. Kageyama picked up his daughter and smiled as Mori held up her phone to take a picture. Kotori wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. She wished she could bottle up this feeling of having such a beautiful family.
Then more scenarios played in her head. If she ended up with Kuroo, how would that look? Kotori would have two dads? She imagined her life with Kuroo, waking up to him and Kotori cooking her breakfast. The little girl would be balanced on his hip as he held her while he flipped the pancakes. Both of them having identically adorable bed head. "LOOK MOMMY PANCAKE!! For you." Kotori world scream excitedly. "Mama is finally awake. Sit, the food will be ready in a second." Kuroo told her while waving around the spatula. After a few minutes he serves her and sits at the table next to her. "Thank you baby." Mori tells her lover, gushing to herself over his generosity. This is everything she'd ever wanted.

Only time would tell which of the two would come true. Either way, Mori wanted Kotori to be happy in the end because that's all that mattered to her. She'd given anything to keep seeing her daughter's beautiful smile and eyes that gleam with excitement everyday. Protecting the light in her baby was Mori's priority. And if it took meeting with Kageyama and reliving all those painful memories, it will be worth it.
