Never let you go

Chapter 1

Lauren's POV

"Caleb you are the worst" I yell after swimming up from the water. I looked up to see him laughing his ass off. I rolled my eyes and got up from the water to grab a towel.
"What" Caleb said to me as I glared at him.
"What do you mean "what" you just threw me in the water fully clothed" I said to him. He rolled his eyes.
"Come on Lo live a little" he said sitting in the lawn chair that faced the lake that. I laid the towel on the grown and felt the slight summer breeze hit my skin. I shivered.
Caleb and I have known each other for years. Growing up it was one of those situations that you would see in the books or in movies. Our moms were best friends growing up, and they had kids who became best friends and that was that. Nothing more than a typical story line but this was actually real life.
"Caleb can we go home now I'm over this" I said after being at the lake for almost an hour.
"Why, we just started summer and you don't want to enjoy it at the beautiful lake" he said gesturing the water in front of us.
"No I hate his place, why can we be at the pool instead? Every-time I'm here I feel a fish on my leg and it grosses me out" I said groaning and laying my head down to look at the sky. It was a bit cloudy for being the first week of June and the Texas air was not swimming weather.
"Fine we will leave just grab the towels" Caleb stated grabbing the lawn chairs that we brought. I quickly got up and folded the towels, grabbed my shoes and walked to the truck that was parked a few yards away.
"Why are you walking so damn fast" Caleb yelled at me struggling to hold the two chairs, and the cooler. "You could have helped me lazy ass". I laughed.
"Oh well hurry up" I stated opening the drivers side door and getting into the seat.
"Oh hell no your not driving my baby" Caleb said opening the drivers side door I just closed.
"Come on, Im a safe driver!" I exclaimed.
"Says the one who's gotten into two car accidents"
I rolled my eyes and moved to the passenger seat. "We don't talk about that, and one of them wasn't my fault".
That's not what the cops said" Caleb said putting the keys into the ignition. I shoved him and grabbed his phone to play music.
"You excited for your birthday tomorrow?" Caleb asked me, I shrugged my shoulders.
"Eh, it's just my eighteenth, we were just doing BBQ and swimming, same thing every year, I think Max is coming tho" I said. Caleb rolled his eyes.
"Why are you rolling your eyes" I asked him as we drove through the dirt to get to the main road from the lake.
"Max is just an asshole, don't see why your dating him" Caleb said paying attention to the road in-front of us. I groaned.
"Caleb we talked about this, you can't justify who I can and can not date just because you don't like them, plus he's sweet" I said as I looked at my phone to the picture of us as my background. I smiled.
"I know, I'm not gonna ban you from seeing the guy, that's weird, but I can have my opinion"
"I know, trust me I can choose a guy to date and I got a good one"
We jammed out to country music on the rest of the way home even though it wasn't a long drive. Pulling into my house I notice that my moms car is in the driveway.
"I didn't know your mom was gonna be home" Caleb said parking the truck in its spot that it usually sits in at my house. I was shocked at her being home cause she usually gets out later and it was pretty early still.
"Me too" I said hopping out of the passenger seat. We grabbed the stuff from the bed, brought it to the garage before heading inside. I put my purse on the counter and saw my mom sitting on the couch.
"Hey mom your home early" I said. She looked up at me.
"Meeting got canceled so I got to come home early!" She said Turing the tv off. "Hey Caleb" she said waving to him behind me. He smiled.
"Hey Mrs M how are you" he stated sitting on the barstool. She smiled and told him good.
"So are you ready for tomorrow birthday girl" my mom said as I opened the fridge. "I have the day off so I can go to the BBQ tomorrow" I smiled. We were having the BBQ at Caleb's house just because the yard was bigger and they had the pool.
"No emotions about it really, max said he is coming which surprised me a bit but other than that I'm excited" I said grabbing an apple. I grabbed another one and tossed it to Caleb. He nodded to say thanks.
"Oooo the boyfriends coming to meet everyone, how exciting" my mom said wiggling her eye bros up and down. Caleb rolled his eyes.
"Mom stop" I said laughing a bit. She smiled.
"Well I am going to go to the grocery store, I'll be back in an hour" my mom said grabbing her keys. I nodded and said bye.
"Come on we can go to my room" I said taking my shoes off.
'Kk be there in a second" Caleb said going to the pantry to grab another snack. I laughed and headed up to my room.
