Never let you go

Chapter 2

Lauren's POV

"Stop messing with everything" I told Caleb as he threw my pillows from my bed onto the floor. He laughed.
"I just want to be comfortable" he said then closing his eyes. I sat down on the bean bag that was in the corner of my room.
"What do you want for your birthday?" Caleb asked me. I shrugged. "Come on what do you want"
"I don't know, nothing really" I said while I scrolled through instagram. He groaned.
"I hate you" he said then chucked a pillow at me. I laughed.
"Did you invite anyone else for tomorrow" I asked him.
"Yeah I invited the boys to come cause they wanted to see you. I think Kenna is coming too" Caleb stated. The boys were Caleb's friends from soccer, but they were some of my closest friends. This included Logan, Michael, Luke and Jake. We all met in middle school and they just kinda stuck. McKenna was Luke's girlfriend and one of the only girls that I really hung out with.
"Okay I'll let Max know to kinda warn him" I said grabbing my phone

Lauren: hey Caleb invited Logan, Michael, Luke and Jake tomorrow for my party I just wanted to let you know.

Max: umm okay thanks for kind of the late notice 😒

Lauren: what do you mean?

Max: you know I feel about them but whatever.

I groaned and tossed my phone to the side. Max wasn't the biggest fan of the boys and I had no clue why. I have known them the longest out of anybody.
"Why did you make that face" Caleb said looking at me. I shook my head.
"Nothing just max being max" I said. He looked at me concerned. "It's fine Caleb just leave it". He nodded understanding that I didn't want to talk about it. I stood up.
"Come on let's go to your house" I said. He sat up.
"That's fine but I think Hailey has a friend over" Caleb said standing up. I shrugged. Hailey was Calebs little sister who was 16. She was honestly the best and she was like the sibling I never had. We walked down stairs and just walked across the street to Calebs house. It was nice having him right there because I never had to drive super far. I unlocked the door and walked inside to see Hailey and her friend Casey in the kitchen.
" hey hails, hey Casey" I said waving to them.
"Hey lo" they both said and waved at me. I smiled
"Caleb is that you" Caleb's mom yelled from upstairs.
"Yeah mom" he yelled back. "Lo's here too". she came down stairs.
"Hey Lauren. You excited for tomorrow" Caleb's mom asked me.
"I don't know why everyone keeps asking me that" I said laughing. "I don't know Mrs k I'm just eh about it". She nodded understanding.
"I mean it's gonna be a tough one this year" she said and hugged me. I nodded and Caleb gave me a a sad look. I shrugged and sat on the couch.
"I'm always here to talk you know that" Caleb said to me sitting next to me. I sighed.
"I know it's just not something I like to think about." I said.

Flash back to last years spring.

"Come on lo you got this" I heard my family yelling while a swam my last lap for my finals for swim. I pushed as hard as I could until I hit the wall. My hand reached and I looked up to hear cheering. I took my goggles off and looked at the board to noticed 1st next to my name. I smiled and looked back to see my parents and Caleb's family in the bleachers screaming their heads off. I smiled and got out of the pool to go be with them.
"Good job goose" my dad said to me and hugged me. I smiled.
"Celebrate at Lucy's?" My mom asked talking about the ice cream place that was close to the house. I smiled and nodded.
"Sounds like a plan, how about I meet you there I have to get gas first and I'll head over" my dad said. We all nodded. Caleb and I got into the truck and my mom went with Hailey, mrs. Katlyn and mr Paul in their car to meet us there.
We pulled up to Lucy's and got a table while we waited for my dad to come. 30 minutes passed and he wasn't there.
"Where is he?" I groaned just wanting to get ice cream. Caleb laughed at me.
"He should almost be here" my mom said then her phone started ringing. She answered then quickly dropped the phone and tears formed in her eyes. No no no.
"We need to get to the hospital" she cried. "He got into a car accident". My mom said scrambling to get up. Tears started to form in my eyes.
"Caleb you take Lauren, mom, and Marina to the the hospital" Paul said. "Im gonna take Hailey home and will meet you guys there. By now I was full on crying. Caleb nodded and we pilled into the truck and rushed to the hospital. My mom ran in and checked and that's when the new broke out. I just saw my mom fall to the ground and Caleb's mom just comfort her.
"No no no" I just started staying over and over again.
"Lo come here" Caleb said trying to comfort me, some tears forming in his eyes. I pushed him away, the first time I have ever shoved Caleb.
"No leave me alone" I yelled and ran out of the hospital not wanting to be in the room anymore. I ran and ran until I got to the park that was a few blocks away until I just fell to the ground sobbing. I cried until I was numb and just sat there.
"Lo" I heard someone yell knowing it was Caleb. I ignored it until I heard footsteps behind me.
"Lauren" Caleb said coming next to me.
"I can't believe he's gone" I told Caleb. He sighed and sat next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and I just sobbed.
"Hey, he loved you so much and he is always gonna be here" Caleb said to me. I sighed and in that moment I wanted the world to end.

Present day.

"I just want to chill, first birthday without dad is gonna be a hard one" I sighed. Caleb nodded. We hung out at Caleb's until it got dark.
"I'm gonna head home I'm exhausted" I said while I laid on the couch after watching a move. Caleb stood up to walk me out like he always did, more as make sure I got into my house from the door.
"I'll see you tomorrow loser" Caleb said. I smiled.
"I'll see you tomorrow dumbass" I said back and walked over to my house.
