A good pretender...

That's what I am, in the field that I chose, pretending to be good and do good is one of the things you should master. I am always cautious on what I say, what I do and what I show.

My Dad had a sudden visit, he didn't even bother telling me, the last time I saw him personally was way back when I won the election as a Governor, sure thing that we keep up with each other through phone calls, but because of my busy schedule I could not find time to visit him.

I stared at my Dad, we're actually very close since I grew up with him, he raised me alone after my mom passed away when I was a child.

I asked him once why he didn't date, remarry, nor had children with another woman, he told me that he just loves my mom so much that he couldn't love nor touch another woman.

"How's life?" he asked.

"It's fine, it's a bit stressful with so much going on, you?" I asked as I stared at him.

Although his wrinkles and gray hair are getting prominent, his built is still similar to men at my age, he looks like he's in his forty's when in fact he's turning sixty-six this year.

"It's fine, I just do my usual routine, nothing changed." he said then wiping the sides of his mouth. "How's your dating life? You're not getting young, Son."

I dropped the fork and knife on my plate, there is a sudden awkward silence between us. The truth is I really can't answer him, knowing my father, he is very strict and is a one woman kind of man, I'm sure he won't like it if he learns I took Elianna from his fiance... I'm the other man.

Dad is very excited to have a grandchild, he had been telling me for the longest time now, he even expected that Amanda and I will end up together and potentially have kids, but our relationship didn't work out—she cheated and I did gave her the chance—but knowing her infidelity, I fell out of love, and when my father suggested to me that I should join politics, I grabbed that chance then proceeded to break up with her and leave her.

"Dating can wait, how 'bout you? You should date aswell." I teased.

He chuckled while shaking his head.

"You know I love your mom so much, I can't just date and marry again, I can't leave the memories behind. I'm still living up to this day with her memories." he told me.

Mom...

I only had a chance to be with her for a few moments, I was a child—clueless on why everyone in our home was crying, I thought she was just sleeping, turns out she left us for good.

She was the best mom, despite from her illness, she still managed to bond and take care of us, there is not a single day I don't think about her. Growing up without her had left a void in my heart, but I know that if she's alive right now, she wouldn't be proud on the dirty business I'm doing.

"Who's with you?" I asked, diverting the topic since I don't want to see him cry—saw him cry alot of times because of Mom.

"Terrence did, he was nice enough to accompany me on my way here, it was supposed to be your brother but he told me he's busy."

I almost forgot, I have a brother—younger than me for almost three years, he's turning twenty-nine this year, he's living somewhere I don't want to know since he only gives me headaches.

"Busy on what? Kalokohan?" I asked bitterly.

"No, he's studying well." he told me.

"He isn't, he's in college for more than ten years now and he hasn't even had his Bachelor's degree," I told him then drank my glass of water.
