(This chapter is very food based, like a LOT. Also chubby reader I will probably write food opinions that are diffrent than ur's but I am trying to avoid that but its kinda hard. Hope you like anyway! 💫) TW a little internalize fatobia
"Whats your favorite food." I asked Sanji, playing with my pen, I was always writing something. I mean our almost weekly encounter with something always leaves something to be written about. "spicy seafood pasta, yours Y/n-swan?" Sanji answered easily as he restocked the fridge, we had stopped at an Island. I stayed with the going Mary, the island looked small enough no one should have got into trouble. Thankfully that assumption was correct, well Luffy got scolded for over eating at a restaurant but that was quite normal. "I'm not exactly sure, I mean it's hard to pick." I smiled at the Cook who was looking at me oddly. "At the end of the day everyone has a favorite, even if it isn't a dish. I mean Nami's is fruit of any kind, not in a dessert but plain fresh fruit." Sanji closed the fridge door while still looking at me. Like I was an odd puzzle. Fair enough. I wondered how many pieces would my puzzle be? "Well because I don't know, it just means we'll find it together. Right?" I asked as Sanji nodded very seriously, like I had promised him countless money. "It will be my priority, most Beautiful and Delicate Flower!" Sanji agreed making me laugh, softly reminding him to not forget to put away the rest of the food. I think Luffy was already pacing outside the door.
"So, peach cobbler?" Sanji asked the tray he brought it out still held in his hand. "Great! but not thee favorite." Sanji nodded, now tucking the tray underneath his arm instead of holding it. "Thanks, bring the dishes when you're done." Sanji waved and I nodded, blinking when Nami sat on the other half of the sun chair. "What is that about? You've been having odd quips like that with him the past two weeks." Nami pointed at me and I raised an eyebrow at her before tucking my legs closer to give Nami more room. "Odd quips?" I echoed her words back at her as a question, the ginger rolled her eyes. "You two say a couple words after being handed a random food, like he isn't even flirting aggressively when he does it! It's out of character." Nami poker her finger right between my eyes, trying to further her point. "Oh! I don't have a favorite food, we're trying to find it." I explained only to receive a blank stare in return. "I do not believe that." Nami honestly said and I let out a quick laugh before covering my mouth.
"Its true, Sanji memorized yours, Fresh fruit." Nami groaned, apparently realized this conversation was going no where. I knew she still didn't believe my simple answer. "Anyone could, fine I'll figure it out on my own." Nami stood up, laying her hands on her hips. "Okay, but do you want a bite of this before you go?" I offered holding up the dessert in a little cute cup. ",, fine." Nami turned back taking the offered treat, I chuckled.
"What are you writing about today?" Usopp asked leaning across the table trying to read my words upside down. "My thoughts on why I shouldn't stab Zoro the next time he gets in the shower as soon as I announce I'm doing so." I looked up at Usopp who dramaticly gulped nodding quickly as he sat back down across from me. "Oh, yeah, uh very good list Y/n, practical. Useful!" Usopp rambled, looking down at his little set up to make stars. I felt a little bad for lying to him, but I wasn't going to tell him what I was really writing. Don't get me wrong I adore Usopp, he was my friend, family! But Usopp couldn't keep a secret for the life of him or anyone else. I mean if it was a life or death secret yes but if it was even a wink less no. Some days I think even Luffy could keep one at least a couple more days. I was writing about Sanji. God that sounded so girly, like. I'm writing about his behavior! Yeah that's, now pretty creepy actually.
Nami said Sanji was acting differently around me. Now that she's said it, it was kinda, basically, well, true. Sanji still kept up most of the pet names, but some how his whole. You know, proformace when talking to girls has lessened. Not with Nami or Robin, oh no they still got the full stops, down on one knee, screaming his undying love ect, ect. The works. It was weird, more than weird! Unnerving? Maybe upsetting? I don't want to sound like a whiney kid, or sound entitled. But why? Sanji clearly put the effort in with Robin and Nami, why now stop when it came to me? At first it always made me nervous, but I was quick to find the behavior cute and fun. Hell most of the time when I wasn't writing I'd do the same back to him. I mean not completely but I had offered a little drawing of himself instead of food. I could see it made him smile days later. So why stop? Was the grand question. Have I made him mad? No, Nami has pissed off Sanji multiple times but never, ever stopped.
