Lily Evans. My god that was a name you loved to hear. Your love story seemed like it was right out of a Fairytale, maybe it was. You guys met in first year, You thought it was love at first sight, the second you saw her, red hair, green eyes, she was perfect. You instantaneously clicked, becoming best friends. But you didn't really know if she was into girls, You shyed away from asking, in case it made her uncomfortable, and she wouldn't want to be friends. Then when she got together with James potter in 3rd year. Well it hurt, she was still your best friend of course, but you had fallen for a straight girl. Until, that fateful night, midway through 3rd year. It was about an hour before curfew, you where alone in your dorm, going over some potions notes, when she barged into the dorm, sobbing and confessing that, what she had with James, it didn't feel right, she thought she had to feel something, anything, for him, and when she didn't she tried to force herself to feel something for him. Hearing her talk about it honestly broke your heart. So you comforted her, and you where there for her, reminding her, what she was feeling was absolutely okay to feel. She can be herself, and take time to figure out what she wants. And you also helped her explain it to James, he was understanding of course, and after that, they broke up. So everything, went back to normal, Lily was feeling better, more accepting of herself, Her and James remained friends, You and her where closer than ever, but you, you where still in love with best friend. Then, this is where the romance picks up, The morning everyone was due to go home for their summer holidays, emotions where high, and you and Lily where sat alone in the girls dorms, she was finishing packing up and getting ready to head for the train. You where sorting out some stuff your parents had sent you, you where staying over the holidays, you parents where on a cruise, so you figured you'd stay. She grabbed your wrist and stopped you with a serious look on her face.
"You'll write to me everyday, wont you?" She said in a low voice, almost like she was scared of the answer. You cupped her cheek, stroking her cheekbone with your thumb.
"Of course, I couldn't go a day without talking to you." You smiled. Then the warning bell rang, signalling it was time for students to head toward the train. "Guess this I goodbye for a few months, don't worry ill come visit you allll the time, you wont be able to get rid of me." You grinned with teary eyes. Then she took the leap of faith, she grabbed the collar of your shirt down to kiss her. And my god, when I tell you there where fireworks, okay not real ones but that's what it felt like. And like the biggest ass hole in the world, the final bell rang to go to the Hogwarts express. You pulled away from lily with the biggest smile. "Go lils, you'll be late" She smiled and turned towards the door.
"if you don't write to me, I swear" She smiled, teary eyed.
"Wouldn't dream of it love." She chuckled, shutting the door with a final glance toward you.
But all of that was two years ago, now in the present, You where waiting in the Gryffindor common room, your best clothes on, ready for your two year anniversary. You where taking lily to this beautiful restaurant down to Hogsmeade, Then to a beautiful hot spring you found, it was going to be amazing. You bounced your leg nervously, James catching sight of it, he sat next to you and put his hand on your leg.
"Calm down, (Y/L/N), she's gonna love it" He chuckled.
"My god, I hope so." You nervously laughed. Then you heard that pretty little voice echo from the common room stairs.
"Trying to steal my woman, Potter?" You and James quickly stood up.
"Wouldn't dream of it lils" He moved to leave and whispered a quick good luck in your ear before waltzing out the portrait hole. You stood there, jaw slack, completely speechless, she looked so beautiful. How did you get so lucky.
"Catching flies, (Y/L/N)?" She smirked, you shook out of your daydream.
"You just look... wow" She was wearing a simple floral dress, her cute purple converse, and light makeup with some classic shades. She looked like she did almost everyday, but then again, she looked breathtaking everyday.
"Can I take a picture of you?" You breathed, this woman really took your breath away
"why?" She gave a questioning look.
"Because I want to remember how you are, right now, in 50 years." She blushed, almost as much as she did they day you asked her out.
"You never fail to impress (Y/N), but yes, of course" You rushed to get the wizard camera from your dorm, tripping up on every other step. "Your getting in the picture as well" She shouted up the stairs, smiling.
Sirius and Remus sat in the corner playing wizard chess, staring at you both, longing for something like that. You where both so genuinely happy and in love. And of course, that one photo was never just one, it turned into perhaps 80? 100? photos, commemorating that day.
