8 years later...

You blinked slowly as your eyes fluttered open. You internally groaned as the sunlight poured in the room and made your eyes sore. You turned to look at the time. A little past two. You pushed your blanket off and sat up. You stretched and yawned rubbing your eyes.

Ugh too bright. You grumbled mentally. You stood and looked in the little cracked mirror you had leaning against the wall. Your hair was messed and your shirt was hanging off your shoulder. You began combing your fingers through your hair, took of your oversized T-shirt and shorts you sleep in to put on cozy black leggings with holes in the knees, your (F/C) long sleeve shirt, your sneakers and a red hoodie. You brushed through your hair once again with fingers, untangling it as best you could.

Once satisfied you opened the door and stepped out into the rest of the abandoned fortune cookie factory you had learned to call home.

You looked around and listened. Hmm, Fong and the guys must be out you. You picked up an unopened box of strawberry granola bars and helped yourself to one. Some time later Fong, Sid and Tsoi returned, all three with armfuls of various things they had taken from unfortunate pedestrians.

"What was the loot today guys?"
You said taking a sip from a glass of a water you had sitting on a little table.

"We had a bit of luck today kid. A bunch of this we got from some old lady having a rummage sale out on main."

"Cool. Anything interesting?"

"See for yourself. This pile over here we got from some stupid girl on the street feel free to look through it."

You nodded. There wasn't much you were too interested in you skimmed all the little piles of stuff they had brought back when something caught your eye. You lifted an expensive looking watching to see a pair of earrings. They were clasped to a little piece of cardboard but the jewel on them was (Your birth stone). You picked up the watch again.

"Hey Fong isn't this a Rolex?" Fong stopped doing what he was doing and looked at it.

"It sure is kid. That'll fetch us a few hundred bucks." He said grinning smugly.

"Can I keep these?" You asked holding up the earrings.

Sid looked at them. "Oh yeah. That was with all the jewelry I swiped from that lady."

Fong nodded. "Sure. Good find on the watch too kid."

You nodded smiling slightly. It wasn't exactly a genuine smile but than again, it had been a long time since you had felt genuine about anything. You shrugged and placed them in your hoodie pocket.

The past 8 years had gone by so fast yet so slow. You had been living with the Purple Dragons since the day they found you roaming the streets all alone. They started out not letting you leave your room unless they could use you for conning some poor citizen out of their goods. You started out bumpy but eventually you got pretty good at it and they became more lenient with you letting you leave the room more often and pretty soon you were pretty much one of them. However Fong was always reminding you what they did for you and if you ever thought about crossing them, things wouldn't be so easy for you. You had gotten used to it over the years and you to be perfectly honest never really thought about it much. Sure at the beginning you had but what sane person wouldn't. They did go out pretty often without you tho. They mainly used you for bigger jobs. Fong noticed your nack for being quick and light on your feet. In the past few years you had also learned a little about defending yourself. You weren't great at it but you were decent. Enough to overpower Fong once in a while if your head was in a good space.

"Consider the jewelry a birthday present kid."

You side smiled. Living with them for as long as you had, it was only natural they found out a few things about you.

"Thanks Fong. Any big endeavors later?" You said trying to change the subject. Your birthday wasn't really a subject you liked to talk about.

Tsoi nodded and smiled snidely. "Oh yeah, we were hired to do a job."

Your interest was peaked now. You raised your brow. "Hired? To do what?"

"You remember Shredder?" Tsoi asked.

You nodded. The Shredder was someone who Fong often did jobs for. He rarely made you participate in those jobs though. You never knew why though so you wondered if you'd be taking part in this.

"He needs us to heist things from a lab for him. Apparently can make freaky monsters."

You crossed your arms. "When you say us you mean...?"

"All of us. This job is pretty big. It'll require all four of us. So we're bring you along kid." Fong cut you off. "We'll go over the plan more throughly later."

"What's he paying?"

Sid rubbed his hands together. "Double what he paid last time."

Dang. Whatever he needed it must be pretty important. You nodded. "When are we doing this?"

"After it gets dark." Fong said curtly. You nodded again. He clearly was apprehensive about you coming but you weren't sure why.

You began heading towards the exit and as soon as you stepped out of the door Fong followed and closed the door.

"When we do this job, I want you to keep your head down. I have a feeling we will have unwanted company by a couple of freaks and it's best you're out of the way. We clear on that?"

You nodded. Fong was being weird about this whole thing and you weren't entirely sure what he meant by company?

"Crystal clear. You can count on me." A distracted smirk crossed his features as he entered the factory again.

Company? Freaks? What is he up to?
