sarah "ace" seresin and jess "striker" o'connell walk quickly and nervously down the hall of their squadron base after being ordered down to the admirals office.
they've had their handful of so called "mishaps" with the admiral about dangerous flying methods, so they are understandably shitting their pants for the 100th time.
sarah tends to fly on what one would say is the more riskier side, however she seems to think it's the best side and the only way a pilot should fly.
jess agrees that she is an amazing pilot. she enjoys being her weapons systems officer and bestfriend, although she is sick of getting yelled at by angry admirals.
"I don't remember doing anything to get us sent here, do you?" sarah questioned jess in a confused tone.
"nope, but you never know with us."
the two girls open the tall metal door slowly, expecting to be yelled at for doing something they shouldn't have. to their dismay there was no yelling.
"Did we do something wrong, sir?" sarah retorts.
"for the first time since i've known you, no." admiral sloan said with annoyance lingering from his words. "i don't know how or why this happened, but you two characters are going to top gun."
sarah and jess glance over at each other with excitement filling their eyes.
"I want both of your bags packed immediately, and i want you on the road to north island within the hour. You are dismissed."
the girls hurry back to their rooms to pack their things.
"i wonder what kind of mission they need us for." jess asked mainly to herself recalling that all they know is that there is an important mission and that's why they're going to top gun.
"i don't know but it must be extremely difficult, why else would they call us down." sarah responded half jokingly with a smirk.
hours later they had arrived in flightertown, the home of pilots. both sarah and jess were exhausted from the drive and glad to be at the house the navy is paying for them to live in while they're serving at top gun.
it's a small two bedroom house, but it's cozy and not too far from the base. the house is located right by the beach which makes everything even better.
the girls spent a good hour unpacking their things and settling into their new temporary home.
jess dropped down heavily on the couch with a sigh, sarah shortly after doing the same.
sarah thought back to when she was looking up flightertown on their way there, "i know you're tired, so am i, but i heard about this bar that supposedly all of the pilots hang out at. it's called the hard deck or something clever like that, do you wanna go check it out?"
jess groaned out of exhaustion but inevitably gave in to sarahs' pleads.
"yes!" an excited sarah cheered, this meant she could go drink.
jess rolled her eyes with a small smile spreading across her lips, "i'm driving though."
"fine, fine."
the girls both sang loudly to the songs on the radio on their way to the hard deck, tapping their fingers with the beat.
"is tonight the night jess meets a hot pilot and goes home with him?"
"who do you think i am, you?"
sarah pretends to be hurt by this comment dramatically opening her mouth and putting her hand to her chest. "when have i ever done that?"
