Katherine stood in Family Video putting back movies that had been returned while listening to Robin as she talked about Vicki, a girl in band with Robin, who she had a major crush on. "She laughed and it was a real, genuine laugh.", Robin said to her two best friends as she walked over to where Steve and Katherine were putting away movies on a shelf.
"Of course she laughed Robin, my muppet joke is hilarious.", Steve said making Katherine roll her eyes at him before Robin continued on. "My point is that Vicki laughed and everything was just like...it was perfect."
"But?"
"But I'm having this problem where it's like, I should stop talking. I have said everything I need to say. But then I guess I get nervous, and the words keep spilling out, and it's like my...my brain is moving faster than my mouth, or...or rather my...my mouth is moving faster than my brain. And it's like I'm digging this hole for myself and I want to stop digging, I'm trying to stop, but I can't. And I'm doing it right now, aren't I?", Robin rambled as she turned around to look at Steve and Katherine.
Both of them were used to Robin's rants and it was one of the things that Katherine really liked about Robin. Robin was never one for small talk and neither was Katherine so when they had met at Scoops Ahoy last year Katherine knew they would be good friends. Katherine also loved how Robin would make fun of Steve and that was something she also loved to do.
"Yeah, you are.", Steve answered Robin who exhaled loudly as she leaned against the wall, "I'm hopeless."
"No, you're not. Look, Robin, if Vicki can't like you for who you are, rambles and all, then she isn't worth your time.", Katherine said as she walked up next to Robin and leaned against the wall. "And hey, you're having much better luck than Steve at this point. At least Vicki is laughing with you and not at you.", Katherine said pointedly at Steve with a smirk on her face as Steve glared at her. "Not funny. Really, it's not.", Steve said as the two girls giggled at his denial.
Steve walks over to the girls and leans against the wall with them, "Maybe we're both helpless Robin."
"If we could only just, like, combine." "Combine?" "Oh my god."
"No, think about it. I know exactly what I want, and I've found the girl of my dreams, but I just can't get the courage to ask her out.", Robin started to say but that was all Katherine heard as she started to zone out. She loved her two best friends dearly but sometimes she just had enough of the love life talk. It reminded her of a certain someone who she thought, no she knew, she would never get over.
