Just like how I had said I would, I waited a few days before talking about working. I also make sure to approach the subject slowly.

At first, I asked Ame about these children outside and what they were doing. She answered that a lot of kids my age find themselves to either help their families or support themselves, as many were orphans.

Noble orphans usually have the "luxury" of being taken care of at a private orphanage or by another noble family until they were of age.

The commoner children weren't so lucky. Some would start working as early as four-year-old to gain the right to a roof over their heads and some food. I was lucky I didn't have to go through that. However-no matter how rich Ame's Akavirian family was, we weren't exactly rolling in dough either. Her job as a waitress wasn't very rewarding. I guessed she had chosen it because she wanted to lie low.

So my helping in earning money wasn't a bad idea. Not only would it help her, but it would lessen my boredom. It was a win-win situation. First, I needed to convince her. Second, I had to find someone willing to let me work for them. Now, I had thought a lot about what kind of work to go for. I was very willing to work in a library, but I had to be realistic... In a world that had little to no regard for women and their aspirations, there was no way I could make it as an apprentice librarian. If there was a library in that town, its owner would've probably felt offended to have a little girl even dare to ask for an apprenticeship.

So... I thought hard to find an idea.

After observing the children in the marketplace, I noticed most of them were selling flowers, vegetables, and newspapers... They were all doing the same thing, selling something, in different places at different hours of the day. But I quickly noticed that there was no delivery system.

So I was thinking: how about proposing to deliver items from point A to point B to other people? The best case scenario would be for me to do all the deliveries for one person at all times, rather than accumulate too many employers who would want me to deliver items for them at the same time.

In that case, it would also be better to do that for someone with a business. Not private individuals.

" Mom... What kind of shops are there, in town?

- Well - There is the baker, the butcher, the apothecary, the bookseller... "

I sat on the edge of the bed, taking mental notes. I didn't want to work for a butcher, either.

No offense, but seeing animals that way - no, thank you. Bakers didn't need a delivery service, people would want to buy their bread in person.

The apothecary, however... seemed to be a good idea. Some people had chronic illnesses that justified the use of medicine periodically. These people had to be on a list, having someone deliver specific items to the same people all the time couldn't be that difficult, and would buy the apothecary a lot of time. They'd be able to focus on making medicine rather than spend time outside to bring it to its intended user.
