A new beginning

Chapter 5

Georgie's POV:

I heard the sound of a gun firing and I squeezed my eyes shut. It's all my fault . I should have just said it was me and now my daughter is probably dead. I was drawn out of my thoughts by the sound of voices. Coming towards me was 2 men. One holding a gun, and the other holding an unconscious Katie.

They opened the cell door and threw her in.

"Take this as your warning" the man said, locking the cell.

"Katie?" I said, running to her unconscious body.

She had been shot in the abdomen. I applied pressure. And turned her over, looking for an exit wound. There wasn't one. Her whole torso was black and blue.

She started coughing, and I turned her on her side, as she coughed up blood. This wasn't good. Just then, I heard commotion, followed by lots of gunfire. Charlie ran towards the cell, his face paling as he saw us.

"I'm blowing open the door Georgie" he said, " stand back!"

I did as he said trying as best I could to cover Katie.

He ran into the cell.

"What should I do?" He asked.

"Find a stretcher" I said, "we need an emergency medevac, cat A"

He ran out of the cell, just as Bones ran in.

"Katie?" He said, "Katie, please wake up!"

He had sat next to her, stroking her cheek.

"Georgie save her" he said, tears in his eyes.

{5 hours later}

"Lane" Charlie said, as he sat next to me in the waiting room.

I didn't look up.

"Charlie-I," I started, "she's my-"

I couldn't get the sentence out as my eyes filled with tears. Charlie wrapped his arm around me, and I hurried myself in his chest.

"Shh" he said.

After I had composed myself, I pulled away from Charlie. I finally managed to meet his eyes as I realized his were red and sore too. He's been crying.

"I know what your going to say" he said.

I looked at him confused.

"Your her mum" he continued.

"How did you know?" I asked, confused.

"It's in her adoption files," he said, "Ollie told me, that's why him and Elvis have fallen out."

"Elvis knew?" I asked.

"He knows that she's with Ollie," he said, "I don't think he connected the dots that she's on the same mission as you though."

"Does Katie know?" He asked.

I nodded.

"She saw we had the same ring and connected the dots in the cell" I said.

Ollie walked in.

"She's awake" he said.
