"Katie?"

I opened my eyes, to Georgie in front of me.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Just making sure your alive" she laughed slightly.

We spent the rest of the morning playing naughts and crosses in the sand.

As we were just about to start another game, the same man who took Georgie yesterday came over.

"You" he said pointing at me.

He opened the door and grabbed my arm, pulling me to my feet. He dragged me to a room, and tied me up.

"Who do you work with?" He asked.

"No one" I replied.

He hit me.

"Don't lie!" He shouted.

"I'm not" I replied calmly.

He struck me again.

"Okay, okay," I said, "I'm a medic"

"And the other?" He asked.

"Who?" I said.

He hit me again.

"The prisoner" he replied.

"She's a medic too" I said.

He threw me against a wall, banging my head. I felt dizzy for a second, before he started dragging me to another room.

He pushed me down onto a chair.

"Read the script!" He said.

I began reading as the camera filmed. After that he dragged me back to the cell. I fell to the floor.

"Katie?" Georgie asked.

I didn't reply. I pulled myself off the floor and turned around so I was in a sitting position, leaning against the wall.

Georgie immediately noticed the blood trickling doesn't the side of my face.

She grabbed my cheek, turning my head towards her.

Georgie's POV:

Katie was thrown down onto the cell. She's been gone ages.

"Katie?" I asked, as she lay still.

After about a minute she pushed herself up, turning herself around to be leant against the wall. Just then, I spotted the trickle of blood, glisten down the side of her head.

Gently I grabbed her head, turning it towards me.

I pressed my hand to her face, holding it firmly.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing" she replied.

"Katie, talk to me" I said.

"He just pushed me against a wall, that's all" she said, pulling her head away from me.

"Nothing else?" I asked.

"No" she replied.

About an hour had passed and I saw Katie's eyes starting to close.

"Stay awake for me" I said.

"I'm tired" she replied.

"You might be concussed, you need to stay awake" I said, "let's talk about something, anything you want."

Katie's POV:

"What was it like, growing up with parents?" I asked, turning to look at Georgie.

"Um- it was alright" she replied, clearly unsure what to say.

"Have you been on a mission with captain James before" Georgie asked, trying to change the conversation.

"No" I replied.

"You two seem close" she said.

"Yeah, we live together"

"Oh, how come?" She asked.

"When I was 14 I was adopted by Ollie, or Bones as you lot know him," I said, " he grew up in the same care home, and despite the big age gap, we were close, I got picked on a lot by the other kids there and he would protect me. He was like a big brother. So when he got out and settled he adopted me. We lived with his friend, Charlie, who sort of became a bit of a dad to me."

"Did they get you interested in the army then?" Georgie asked.

"Not quite" I replied, "I don't know, I've always had an interest in it."

Georgie started fiddling with something. It was a ring.

"You married?" I asked, gesturing to the ring.

"No," she replied.

I took a closer look. It seemed familiar. That's when it hit me. It was almost identical to mine. I pulled my ring out of my pocket, it was originally on my dog tag, but there was no way I was going to burry it.

Engraved on the ring was my initials, KV

Inside the ring was engraved the letters EH and GL. I rang my fingers along them.

"Could I look at it?" I asked, as she handed me her ring.

It was the same.

"What do the letters mean?" I asked her, handing the ring back.

She stared at me silently.

"You have the same ring" she replied.

I nodded.

"Katie, I'm really sorry" she said, tears forming in her eyes.

I wasn't stupid, I'd worked it out. I sat there in silence.

There's no way.

"Are you saying that...?" I asked.

She nodded.

"We- we had no choice, it's what was best" she said.

I sat in silence. She moved towards me, and I backed into the corner.

Just then a Taliban soldier came towards the cell. He handed a single bottle of water through the bars. I was so thirsty, I hadn't drank in nearly 2 days.

Just as he was about to leave, he noticed something on the ground. Shit, I thought. The chain of one of our dog tags was poking out.

He pulled the chain, revealing the dog tag.

"Army" he shouted, "they're army!"

One of the more senior men came over to the cage followed by half a dozen other soldiers. The main guy Abu was British.

"Now which one of you is Georgie lane?" He asked.

We both stayed silent.

"I asked a fucking question" he said.

"Me" I replied, before even thinking. "I'm Georgie."

Georgie looked at me, tears in her eyes.

I was pulled out of the cell and taken to a dark room. I'd already excepted it. They were probably going to kill me.

I was hit, over and over again, slipping in and out of consciousness. I think about a couple of hours had passed, when I woke up. My hands were tied above my head, and Abu was sitting opposite me, staring.

"It's good to see your awake" he said, coming towards me and touching my face.

He pulled out a gun and shot me in the abdomen. I lost consciousness.
