the morning after, skylar woke up feeling extremely nervous but tired. today was the day of the first task for the triwizard tournament.

when she stumbled into the great hall for breakfast, she could feel the excitement bouncing off from every student. classes were going to be finished earlier than usual today, which skylar was very grateful for.

as skylar looked around the hall, her eyes landed on harry, who was sitting alone once again today. she felt a herself inhale deeply before walking over to him.

"so..have you figured out what your doing about the dragon?" the girl asked, sitting in front of harry without asking.

the boy slightly choked on his food, staring at her wide eyed. "how do you—....cedric." he sighed.

she turned her head to the side, "you didn't answer the question, potter."

"i'm not sure." he grumbled. "i thought about summoning my broom. i'm pretty good at flying."

skylar held back a smile as she took a piece of bacon from his plate. "so amazing at flying that the hufflepuff's beat you." she teased.

harry just rolled his eyes at the girl. "oh, come on. don't be that way." she pouted.

she looked down the gryffindor table to see all of them staring at the two. most of them were sending glares at harry but another lot of them were glaring at skylar. she sighed, her loose strand of hair floating upward.

"look, i didn't come here to antagonize you or anything, harry. i just wanted to wish you good luck. i know you'll do well." she smiled, standing back up from the bench.

she watched the younger boy turn a light shade of pink. "thanks." he mumbled, returning to his breakfast.

she joined the hufflepuff's at their table finally, sitting next to laverna. the girl was practically shaking from excitement.

"morninggg." skylar greeted, dragging out the 'g'.

laverna took a sip of her pumpkin juice. "morning." she replied, some of the juice slipping out of her mouth.

skylar looked around the table, searching for a specific chestnut haired boy. "where's cedric?"

"dunno. i haven't seen him since yesterday."

the girl felt a bit of disappointment as she slouched in her position. she wanted to know what he planned on doing for the first task. she was the one who gave him the idea after all...

once classes were finished, skylar followed the rest of the school down to where the first task was being held. her feeling of disappointment had washed over and she was pretty much back to normal by the time class ended.

she'd been so anxious for cedric and harry that she felt like passing out in the stands next to hermione and laverna. and after what felt like hours, but was probably only five minutes, a loud whistle blew and skylar saw cedric appear from the champion's tent.

the crowd cheered as he came into view properly and entered the enclosure. skylar still had no clue as to what cedric had planned to do. their small conversation from the day before ended quickly after she suggested he do some kind of spell. but he hadn't told her what it was.

she assumed that he was keeping it a secret, so that she'd be surprised just like everyone else. but a part of her wished he did tell her. skylar rocked back and forth in her stance, waiting for the boy to make his first move.
