A/N: Hey guys :) I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far! I'm sorry for the somewhat "boring" chapters but i promise, it is absolutely necessary to set everything up for the plot. This is also the first fanfic that i am genuinely excited and serious about writing so im having a hard time balancing the story so its not dragging but also not feeling rushed. I want the timing of everything to make sense. I want to write all the interesting things already (very heartbreaking, sad, angsty, all of the great stuff)

EddieI woke up in my bed this morning with a pounding headache, and i looked over at my nightstand seeing 3 empty beer bottles. I wasn't sure what happened last night. I remember being in a panicked state. I somehow managed to calm myself down enough to get out of the garage and into the kitchen to grab a drink.
I get up out of bed and put on some joggers before heading out to the kitchen.
"Good morning." I look over and see Wayne sitting at the dining table drinking a coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Morning" I reply, grabbing a mug from our collection to pour myself a cup of coffee.
"How'd you sleep? I heard you playing last night. First time you've touched that guitar since Hawkins." He mentions.
"I slept alright" I reply, taking a sip of coffee. "I couldn't sleep last night. Thought i'd play again. Its been a long time already. I didn't want to get more rusty than I already am."
"It sounded good, Eddie. I missed hearing you play. For a while, I thought i'd never hear you play again. Feels like home hearing it."
I couldn't help but smile. Hearing that from Wayne was more reassuring than i expected it to be. He has always been so supportive of my passions. He always tried his best to show up to Corroded Coffin shows, when he wasn't working nights at the plant. He has always been so supportive of me throughout anything. We would stay up late at nights helping me study for any test i may have had or stay up late most nights to hear me practice. He always wanted to see me succeed. After the whole Vecna situation, I felt a drift between the two of us. Things haven't been the same. I couldn't bring myself to play the guitar because it reminded me too much of everyone I loved. Especially Henderson. We grew close in the time we had while i was hiding. I went to the next town over to have my injured looked at. I had to stay there for a while before they discharged me. Then Wayne and I made our drive over to California. We actually took the time to stay in some other places before moving into our house in Lenora Valley.
"Saw you with that pretty girl yesterday. Who is she?" Wayne asks.
"Sorry what did you say?"
"I saw you talking to that cute redhead on our driveway. I asked who she was" He asks again, with a more intrigued tone.
"Oh, shes our neighbor. She came by to say hi and introduce herself. Shes a character." I answer, almost smiling. I catch myself before I do so. I don't know why i am anyways.
"Ah, I see. Is she the same girl I heard you talk to last night in your room?" He looks over at me raising his eyebrows and smirks ever so slightly.
I choke on my coffee and start coughing. I hear him laugh so I shoot him a mean glare from across the room.
"Don't worry, kid. I didn't hear nothin'. Just a girl's voice. Thought i'd give you two some alone time" He laughs even more, shooting me a weird wink.
"I am just going to leave this conversation right here before it gets weirder." I shake my head and start walking in the direction of my bedroom.
I need to get high. I start looking through my bags and boxes to see if I had any weed left, but from the looks of it, I do not. Fuck. Maybe Aspen knows someone who could hook me up. Doubt it though. She doesn't seem like someone who would smoke. Especially since she threw my cigarette on the ground. Whatever, I'll smoke that even though it wont give me the high I want.
