But don't think about the lyrics too much.

So I have decided to change a few things.

First Charlie's dad did not leave or die like in the movie.

But y/n's dad died.

Second Charlie's brother Otis is off at college

Third Memo is both y/n and Charlie's friend.

Fourth Charlie and y/n got into
CES college Charlie with a full ride diving scholarship and y/n got a full ride for academics.

Ok enjoy the chapter

Charlie pov:

I saw to the surface of the water and wiped off my face.

"That was better than the last one."  My coach said as I swam to the edge of the pool.

"It felt a lot better than the first one." 

I said getting out of the pool.

"Let's try the one and a half somersault." I nodded and got back onto the board.

I stood back on the board and took a deep breath. I took the first step before the hurdle bounced once and threw the front somersault.

"LOOK!" My coach called, I came out of the tuck and put my arms over my head my hands hit the water and I squeezed my body to go in a straight line.

When I came to the surface my two coaches were cheering.

"That was amazing Charlie!"  I wiped the water off my face and swam to the edge of the pool.

Y/n pov:

I was helping Charlie's mom set the table for lunch. We put a table cloth on the park table.

"So I want a honest answer, how are feeling about college?" 

I took a Tupperware of watermelon out of the cooler.

"I'm super excited, but I'm also nervous because if I don't keep my grades up I might lose my scholarship." 

She hummed and set the pasta salad on the table. I set a pitcher of water on the table as my mom walked over.

"Make sure Charlie keeps her grades up so she stays on the dive team."  I smile and nod.

"Hey (nickname)!"  Charlie's dad exclaimed. "How's the studying?"  He said bringing up an old inside joke.

"It's going good."  I said in reply. The joke had started with him and my dad. One day my dad asked 'how's the training?' And he replied 'good, how's the studying?' 

They were both surprised at the answer and laughed it off. But after my dad died when Charlie's dad would come for dinner.  He would ask Charlie how practice was and me how studying was.

He was the one who bet every year that I would be top of my class. And he is basically my dad. Seeing that my dad died 9.5 years ago.

"Let's eat!" He exclaimed as we all sat at the park table.

"Henry can you paste the water?"  Charlie asked Henry handed her the water. We all ate the food and Charlie helped her mom put the food away.

"Char you are making dinner tonight."  My mom said making Charlie groan.

"I guess I'll make pizza."  She said putting her arm around my shoulders.

"Be safe."  Charlie's mom called to us as we walked to the car.

We got into the car and started the radio.

"So have you gotten a job?"  Char asked me.

"Yea, I got a job at the book store."  She laughed as we took a turn towards the skate park.

"Of course you got a job at the book store."  I punched her in the arm.

"Shut up, just because I have good grades doesn't mean I will always be studying." 

Char parked the car and we both got out.

"I got a job at the docks." 

We got our skateboards out of the trunk. And walked over to the park.

"You may be a better athlete than me, but I'm a better mechanic and I skate better than you." 

I dropped into the bowl Charlie following closely.

Time skip

Charlie pov:

Y/n and I got to her house after a few hours at the skate park. I parked bumblebee on the driveway and we walked into the house.

"Alright char let's make some pizza." Y/n said opening the door.

"We're home."  Y/n calls

"Welcome home!" Her mom called as we washed our hands.

"You get the mixer I'll get the ingredients." Y/n said drying her hands off with the kitchen towel.

I opened a cupboard and took the mixer out.

"WHATS UP FUCKERS?!?!"  Memo screamed smashing his face on the window.

"JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!"  I scream putting my hand over my heart.

Memo just laughed. Y/n flipped him off and measured out the water and yeast.

He opened the back door and came into the house.

"What are we making?"  He rubbed his hands together like a mad scientist.

"Pizza."  I said measuring the flour.

"Ooo let me help."  He said running to the sink.

I looked over at y/n who just rolled her eyes.

Time skip

"Thanks for dinner char."  Y/n's mom said. Standing up to put her plate in the sink.

"Of course, and y/n I'll be here at 7:00 to take you to the bookstore."  She nodded and took her plate to the kitchen.

"Char can you also take Henry to summer school?"  Y/n's mom asked. "I know it's last minute but my boss called me in and you parents are both busy." 

I cut her off, "yea it's totally fine, I just have dive at 8:30 so I'll be ok."  I smiled and she par me on the cheek.

"Thank you."  She said with a smile. I smiled back and headed to the front door.

"Memo if you want a ride I'm leaving now."
