Yeji and Ryujin had been dating for almost three years now. They were now in their last and final year of high school, close to graduating.
Yeji hummed softly, skipping her way to Ryujin's house. The girl usually discreetly planned their anniversaries, and Yeji hoped she could coax Ryujin into giving something away.
She knocked on her girlfriend's door but received no reply. To ignite the girl's curiosity even further, she could hear some voices inside. But the voices didn't sound like her parents at all.
She had an extra key...
The door swung open.
And a couple of footsteps later, Yeji found herself right in front of Ryujin's bedroom door, inside which she could hear two feminine voices talking.
"...shouldn't know about this, be careful..." Yeji furrowed her brows, wondering what Ryujin could be talking about.
"I promise to be. She, your girlfriend, will know nothing about our ****."
That word wasn't love. Couldn't be love. Yeji was sure it wasn't love.
"Big shocks don't suit her well," said Ryujin, sniggering. " My girlfriend gets tricked every time."
Ry-Ryujin was... laughing at her? Behind her back? But why would she? Could it be that-
"... on top, Ryuddaeng. Ooh, I like it there..." Yeji heard the woman sigh in contentment, missing a couple words because of her deep thoughts. But she registered what she heard, pairing it with everything else, including the nickname Ryuddaeng.
The name Yeji called Ryujin.
Once she became her girlfriend.
T-th-this w-woman w-was h-her g-g-girlfriend.
"I don't believe it," breathed out Yeji, forgetting that Ryujin and t-that woman were inside the room, and she was eavesdropping on them. Ryujin opened the door.
"Yeji?" Frowned Ryujin, before smiling with her whisker dimples. "I didn't know you were here! Oh, she is-
"Your new girlfriend? Oh shut the act, I heard everything you said."
Yeji spotted rain through Ryujin's window. Ryujin's favourite season. A lump formed in her throat.
"What do you mean, new girlfriend? Yeji, we were just-"
"I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!" Yeji sobbed and screamed, nearly collapsing. "You told me you loved me, we went on so many dates, and I was never enough for you, was I? And instead of talking it out, you decided to cheat on me!"
"The f**k are you talking about Yeji?" Yelled Ryujin, throwing her hands up. But Yeji gave her a death glare, telling her to shut up.
"How long has this been going on?" Said Yeji, blindly gesturing in Ryujin's direction.
"This?" Said Ryujiin, frowning at the paper on her desk. Then she sighed. "Fine, you caught me. I went extra big this time. Two months."
"Wow. I just-" Yeji ran away from Ryujin's house, sobbing. Perplexed, Ryujin followed her. Yeji led her to the couple's favourite park. Then she stopped, throwing the pendant of the necklace Ryujin gave her on the rain marred ground.
"As long as this necklace is unchained, we will be too. And as necklaces can't be re-chained, say goodbye to me Ryu."
Yeji handed her the pendant of the necklace, which she promptly dropped, and ran away
Ryujin sat down limply on a bench, trying to understand. When she did, she started crying endlessly, her tears uniting with the fallen rain, ceaselessly dropping on the metal that was the bench. Then she spotted the remains of the necklace, rainclouds above and all.
She picked up the pendant again, wanting nothing more than to sling it back onto the chain.
