This was all you wanted. To be content in the arms of someone who loved you for you. All the mistakes, the flaws and how big of a mess you could be, yet still wanted to be with you. You didn't deserve him and you knew it. A sudden vibration coming from the floor snapped you back into reality.
"Its probably Tony or Nick. I should get that." He kisses your forehead then gets up off of the bed. You watch as he leans down to pick up his pants, digging into one of the pockets, he answers the phone while putting his pants on.
"What's up Tony?" You could hear Tony's voice booming through the phone without it even being on speaker. He was rambling on about something and you could tell it was irritating Clint.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Give me like twenty minutes and I'll meet Steve down there." He hangs up the phone and turns back to you lying there on the bed. "Hate to cut this short honey, but we both have places to be." He leans down and gives you a soft kiss on the lips.
You wrap your arms around his neck and pull him on top of you. "Nooooooo we don't have to do we?" Wrapping your legs around his waist you hold him close to you.
He looks down at you with those piercing eyes as a sly smirk creeps up on his face. You could already feel him getting excited between your legs. "Unfortunately we have work to do." He leans down and kisses you on the nose.
You release him from your hold and slide off the side of the bed. He picks up your clothes off the floor and hands them to you with a wink. "Nat will be back any second. She will take you up to see Tony and Bruce."
He takes a step toward the door and turns around to stare at you as you pull on your clothes. "Don't be a weirdo." You chuckle at him.
"I'm not. Just admiring my beautiful woman." He brushes you hair out of your face then leans down for one last kiss. "I love you. Don't you ever forget that." With that he turns around and walks out of the room.
You sit there on the edge of the bed lost in your thoughts as you hear a soft knock at the door. "Yeah?" You call out to the door as the knob turns and it slowly swings open.
"Hey Y/N, you ready?" She had changed into her combat gear and had a black leather bound folder in her left arm.
"Yeah." You look up in her direction and notice the wardrobe change which makes you cock your head to the side with an eyebrow raised. "Let me guess, you guys have a mission?" Hanging your head you deeply sigh knowing that was what Tony must have been telling Clint on the phone a few moments ago.
Nat drops her head and shakes it side to side. "He didn't tell you?" She looks back up at you with sympathy in her eyes. "We leave in a few minutes. We have a lead on your father's science team. Don't worry though, we will be ok, plus you know I won't let anything happen to him." She sits down on the bed next to you wrapping her right arm around you.
"I know, thanks Nat." You turn to give her a hug and place your head on her shoulder. "I guess I have to go to the lab and have some tests run on me now." You stand up fidgeting with your shirt as you walk towards the open door.
"You will be fine. Just breathe." She pats you on the back and walks out the door then down the hall.
Looking down at your feet you shift your weight back and forth until you get the courage to start walking down the hall. You reach the elevator and press the up button leaning on the wall next to the large metal doors. That all to familiar DING makes you jump as the doors slide open. You step in pressing the button for the lab and lean against the sidewall as the doors close. Why wouldn't he tell me about the mission? You knew he was trying to spare you a painful goodbye, but anything was better than no goodbye. Still lost in your thoughts the doors open and Tony was standing there with his phone in his hand.
