y/ns pov:
steve looks at robin his expression blank "for 20 bucks you got that? I don't see a way in?" he questions robins decision making
" hey" I say flicking him on the head making him turn towards me " hear her out steve" I turn back to robin who smiles back at me
"this is us scoops" robin says pointing us out on the blue prints " and this is where we need to be " she points across the map.
"I still don't get it" steve says "there's no other door in?"
" just hang on dingus" as she says this she turns the blue prints over looking up at us all and smiling again "who needs doors?"
"air ducts !" dustin says grinning, being the only one out of the three of us to catch on to robins plan.
"all rooms need air" robin says " and our air duct leads straight to it" she begins drawing out the way. its actually pretty simple
" wow" I say looking at robin smiling " smart-ass" I say jokingly.
robin throws the pen at me and she can't help but laugh " your just jealous " she says turning away from me to face dustin and steve.
" so whats the plan?" steve asks combing back his hair with his hands
robin points at the air duct on the other side of the room " one of us goes through ther-" robins interruped by steve who although is being annoying, asks a valid question to be honest "and how do we do that?" steve asks
" do what?" asks robin
"fit through that" steve says
"i-i umm" robin says realising how small it is
while they continue to bicker i hear someone banging on the bell at the counter , through the crack in the sliding window i see erica sinclair a ten year old who from what I've heard is lucas' yougher sister. "bingo" I say making everyone stop talking
" what?" robin says looking confused
they all follow my gaze to erica " why don't we ask her to help ?"
" you know what that's not a bad idea harrington " robin says with a smile making me smile back
"nooo no please no " steve says as he follows us all out the back room and up to the counter dragging his heals as I pull him by his sleeve.
" hey erica" dustin says but he is quickly interruped
" I would like to taste some ice creams " erica says her hands on her hips
"just wait, we uhh we need a favour from you" dustin says
erica raises her eyebrow " what kind of favour " she asks
" why don't you go sit down with steve and dustin and they will tell you what we need you to do, while me and y/n get you what ever ice cream you want... for free!" robin says trying to be as nice as possible so hopefully she says yes.
" I want a uss butterscotch.....with extra fudge " erica says as she goes to sit down with dustin and steve in a booth
robin starts making ericas ice cream ship " hey wheres you hat ?" I say finding it on the side and putting it on robin head "there you look way cuter in it " I say laughing i cant help but notice robins cheeks turn a pink ish red
"fuck off harrington " robin says jokingly laughing " do you want any ice cream?"
" is it free?" I ask
playfully robin says "just for you harrington " she can't help but smile at what she'd just said
" well then how can I say no" I say laughing " can I have mint choc chip please?"
" what?" robin says turning to me
" mint choc chip?" I say confused
" you have all this selection and you choose the tooth paste flavoured one" she says jokingly holding a hand up while using the other to scoop my ice cream " im disappointed in you harrington... I thought you had better taste than this" she says with a fake sniff of upsetness
she hands me the ice cream " we can't be friends anymore " she says with a serious face but I can see her fighting off a smile.
she then picks ericas ice cream up and walks towards their table. I quietly laugh while I follow close behind her and sit next to her in the booth.
" so what exactly is the plan because these two nerds are rubbish at explaining " erica says and steve seems almost effended at the nick name she gave them both
robin pulls out the map with the route marked out on it, she passes it to erica who studies the map rolling her eyes " we wait for the last delivery then you knock out the grate jump in and open the door for us, its simple " robin explains
" and then you find out what they're hiding in the boxes ? you know this sounds a lot like child endangerment to me" erica says
" well- the guard won't be there-" I begin but im quickly cut off
" NO NO NO .CHILD.ENDANGERMENT" erica carrys on making all of us sigh
" we will be in contact through walkie talkies with you the whole time" says robin trying to make it sound as safe as possible
" mmm doesn't sound very thought out to me" erica says starting to eat her ice cream
all four of us look at each other trying to think. " dont you love your country erica?" dustin asks
erica looks up frowning " you can't spell America without erica" she says carrying on eating
what , it takes me a minute to figure it out, she's actually right " wow" I say me and robin exchange surprised looks.
" well we think these Russians are trying to hurt our country. you wouldn't want that" dustin says " dont do it for us do it for your country "
" wow that was pathetic. it seems that me fitting through the tiny vent is very valuable to you. but I wont do it without payment" she makes eyes contact with all of us " im talking free ice cream for life"
steve face palms," fine." he says looking annoyed
" so when are we doing this... operation child endangerment?" erica asks
" well ah not tomorrow but the day after, its ah y/ns birthday tomorrow so I thought we shouldn't do it because well if these Russians are up to something they will still be up to it in a days time right?" robin explains
"mmm yeah ok whatever nerds. and may I see this " safe " vent ill be climbing through?" asks erica
steve and dustin stand up " yeah sure we will show you" says steve
they walk off leaving me and robin.
" I still can't believe your eating that" she says half jokingly
" its not bad, have you even ever tried it robin?" I ask eating it. she goes silent looking around
" robin buckley!" I shout whisper " you've never tried it!"
" n-no i just i-i know thats definitely what it tastes like" she says not making eye contact
" no you have to try it " I say " its good, trust me"
she takes persuading but eventually " ok ok I'll try it" she says taking my ice cream and trying some. her face goes red and she hands it back. she looks around looking embarrassed.
" i-its alright I guess " she says quickly
" oh my god you like it !" I say " you just can't admit you've been wrong about mint choc chip your whole life" I laugh
" ok ok alright " she says a smile creeping on to her face " yeah its good, its actually really good" we both sit and laugh
" I cant believe you buckley " I say between laughter.
