Decorating her house took a few days, but she couldn't have been more in love with how everything came together. She was now laying on her couch in her new home, watching a game show, taking in every moment that passed the last week. Her grandmothers letter was the closure she needed to accept losing her Mamaw Pearl. She knew her grandmother would be furious if she knew she wasn't letting her go. Annie loved her grandmother dearly, but it was time to live. The letter ended up holding the most value, her freedom. She didn't have her step father stealing her life away by gambling. She wouldn't have to face the community as an outsider anymore. To some it may seem like she ran away, but in reality, she ran home without even knowing it. She looked around the room and got an idea. She would have some of the new found friends she made over for a movie night. She sprung up from the couch and got dressed for the day. It was finally the weekend so everyone wasn't tied up in school all day. She waltzed across the street to Dustin's house and knocked on their front door. His parents car was gone so she assumed they were gone. Or at least one of them was. Dustin answered the door looking like he just rolled out of bed. "It's 9am! What are you doing still sleeping?" She asked him with a smile across her face. She was excited to see what new adventures the day would hold. "I'm not sleeping anymore, no thanks to you.." he replied. She scrunched her nose, but continued to smile. "Get dressed we are going to pick up Eddie!" She said. This seemed to wake Dustin up.. "Wait what? Pick up Eddie? Eddie knows about this right?" He said. "Uh yeah, totally. We talked about it last night!" She knew full well she was lying. "Annie you didn't see Eddie yesterday. He was out of town with his band.." She shrugged her shoulder at his comment and pushed past him to sit on the couch. "I'm not leaving until you get ready." Dustin shut the front door a little harder than normal. "Damn someone didn't wake up on the right side of the bed." Dustin stomped to his room and was ready within minutes. "I hope you know what you're doing, Annie." He said leaving the house with her. "Of course I do! We are having a movie day! And I need you guys to help me pick out movies!" She skipped back across the street and got into her car with a very grumpy Dustin in the passenger seat. "It's 9am on a weekend, Eddie probably isn't even awake yet!" Said Dustin. Annie just waved him off, and backed out of her driveway. "Eh he will be fine. I'll promise him something in return and we will be good." Dustin raised his eyebrows at her. "Since when did you two become so close?" Annie wished she could tell him but she felt as if she always knew Eddie. She felt comfortable and safe when she was with him. "Shit.. he is going to kill us." Annie laughed at how dramatic Dustin was being. "Don't be such a drama Queen" she said, turning up the radio to listen to all of Queen's greatest hits. They pulled up to Eddie's trailer and Annie couldn't deny she was a little nervous. She was showing up to Eddie's house uninvited, at 9 in the morning to ask if he wanted to sit in her house and watch movies.. but it was too late to change her mind now. "I'll be back." She said getting out of the car. "No you won't," Said Dustin making Annie laugh. She took a few deep breaths before knocking on his door.. She waited a few moments before knocking again. Maybe this was a mistake. She turned to Dustin throwing her arms up. "I told you this was a bad idea!" Yelled Dustin. "No it wasn't it was a great idea! You two need to learn to get up at a decent hour!" Dustin stood outside the car, but was still behind the door. "Decent hour!? It is 9am on a Saturday morning! We get up everyday and have our asses planted in those miserable school chairs 8 hours a day 5 days a week!" She could tell Dustin was upset, because he continued. "I think we deserve a fucking day to sleep in just a little bit!" This time he paused and looked behind her. She didn't hear the door to Eddie's trailer open, so when she turned around she was surprised to see a very half naked, very sleepy Eddie, standing in the door way. "Henderson has a point.." he said. "I, um.." she couldn't seem to get her words out correctly. He was standing just a few feet from her in only his boxers, his hair a complete mess, and his voice had not woken up yet. When he spoke she felt it melt her insides. If only he knew the affect he was having on her in that moment. She got distracted looking at all of his tattoos and he cleared his throat. "Enjoying the view, sweetheart." She heard Dustin gag behind her, but she shook her head to clear her thoughts before speaking. If she didn't get herself together, Lord only knows what would come out of her mouth. "I thought we could have a movie day, if you want? We are on the way to the movie store. If you don't want to I totally get it." She paused and he just stared at her. She took his silence as declining the offer "I'm sorry to bother you, I'll see you around." She turned to leave, but his voice stopped her, making her turn back around to him. "Of all the people in Hawkin's, you want me to watch movies with you?" She shrugged "Well.. yeah, I do." He smiled and shut the door. "Was that a yes?" She turned to Dustin. "I don't know what that was.." he said. She walked back to her car and got in the drivers seat. She didn't know if she should wait or leave. But before she could make a decision, Eddie burst through the door of his trailer and strutted over to her car. "So what kind of movies are we thinking? Horror? Comedy? Chick Flicks? I personally prefer the horror but I'm not picky about movies." He said as he climbed into her backseat. She locked eyes with him through her rear view mirror "I could not picture you watching a chick flick." She said. He laughed and held eye contact with her, "I have to watch them so I know how to please the ladies." She laughed "I'm sure you have no trouble with that," Dustin groaned and looked between the two of them. "Would you two get a room!" The car erupted into laughter. They arrived at the music store a few minutes before they opened, so they sat in the car to wait. Eddie leaned forward into the front seat and pulled a few cassettes from the console. "Damn, you've got good taste in music." He said, making her smile. He put in the Motley Crue cassette and fell back into the back seat. Dr. Feelgood started playing and again, he was playing air guitar and throwing his hair around within minutes. "Thank god," said Dustin as he got out of the car. Robin was there unlocking the doors to the store. "He really isn't a morning person is he?" She asked Eddie, letting him out of the back seat. Her car was a crew cab, so getting in and out of the back seat took skill. "No he is always happy. I'll talk to him later and see what's going on." He replied, walking with her into the store. Annie had not formally met Robin or Steve but she heard plenty about them from Dustin to feel like she knew them. Steve was organizing a shelf, and Robin was leaning against the counter when they walked in. Robin was the first to speak. " I never in my life, thought I would see Eddie Munson walk into this store at 10 in the morning. Or any store for that matter.." she said, smirking at me. Annie extended her hand to Robin, "Hey, I'm Annie! I've heard lots about you from Dustin." She raised her eyebrows and looked in his direction where he was sulking beside Steve. "Is that right? All horrible things I hope?" Annie laughed "Oh yeah, most definitely!" They walked over to Dustin and Steve, but Steve was a little less friendly than Robin. He just offered them a smile and walked to the front desk with Robin. "So what movies are we thinking?" Asked Eddie. "Definitely Legally Blonde!" Said Annie. Dustin and Eddie said "No" I'm unison which made Annie laugh. "I'm kidding guys I promise. I watch that on my own." Eddie chuckled and pulled a movie from the shelf. "Lord of the Rings is always a good one?" Annie loved Lord of the Rings. "That's perfect! We can watch all of them!" Dustin grabbed the movie from Eddie's hand and read the description. "I've never seen it." Annie and Eddie whipped their head with looks of shock and horror on their face. This time it was their turn to say "What" in unison. She heard Robin and Steve laugh. "How have you never seen Lord of the Rings!" She said. Dustin shrugged and handed the movie back to Eddie. "Mom and Dad always hog the TV, so I never got the chance." Annie shook her head, "That's it! It's decided." She grabbed all of the movies from the shelf and headed to check out. After they rented the movies they walked down the street to the store for snacks and drinks. She had not stocked her house with food yet, so she bought pizza to make for dinner. "Hey, Dustin are you ok?" Annie asked him in the frozen section of the grocery store. "Yeah, I'm fine why?" She grabbed his shoulder and stopped him from walking "Because I can tell when you're lying." Dustin sighed. "My girlfriend hasn't talked to me in four days. I don't know if I said something, or if she's ok. And I have no way of finding out." Annie's face lit up with excitement. "You have a girlfriend? How did I not know about this?" Dustin shrugged "I don't know, it doesn't seem like I have one anymore." Annie pulled him into a big hug. "I'm sorry. I'm sure everything is just fine! Don't worry on it too much ok? If she changes her mind, then it's her loss. You're an amazing guy, and don't let anyone tell you different." Eddie had walked up behind them and threw some chips into the cart. He grabbed Eddie behind the neck and looked into his eyes "Never change, Dustin Henderson. For anyone." Dustin shook his head. "Wasn't planning on it." Eddie nodded and looked at Annie smiling. "Are we ready?" He asked. "I believe so" They had ice cream of all flavors, chips, candy, and all different sodas ready for the day ahead. After arriving at Annie's house, they hauled everything inside and got ready for the movies. Annie put in the first Lord of the Rings and jumped onto the couch. Dustin decided to lay back in the recliner, and Eddie had disappeared. She pressed play as he appeared with an arm full of popcorn, chips and ice cream in his hand. "You weren't going to start without me are you?" She laughed as he placed everything on the table and sat beside her on the couch. "Of course not." The beginning credits of the movie had not even ended before Eddie took her hand into his, and laid their hands on top of her thigh. She smiled and leaned against him, sinking deeper into the couch. After the first movie, Dustin was so invested he ran to the TV to put in the next movie. Halfway through the second movie Eddie went into the kitchen to refill their drinks "Don't pause it I've seen these movies at least 4 times." Annie threw her legs across the couch to stretch them, planning on returning to her normal sitting position when Eddie got back. But he snuck up on her and rolled over the back of the couch to land on top of her. They laughed as he let all of his weight squish her into the couch. He was sitting on her legs, and placed the cups onto the table. How he did that without spilling any of the drinks, she would never know. She tried to sit up but he moved behind her and the back of the couch, and laid them down. She could feel her heart rate pick up as they cuddled up next to each other, she just hoped he couldn't feel it. He rested his chin on top of her head, and they stayed in that position for the rest of the movie. "Are you guys hungry?" She asked as the second movie ended. "I'm starving" said Dustin. She sat up from the couch and looked down at Eddie still laying there with his arm propped under his head. She smiled at him looking at her as she stood from the couch. After about 20 minutes the pizza was ready and they sat down for the third movie. Dustin didn't make it through the whole movie before falling asleep. She did have to admit the movies were very long. She looked over at Eddie, who had his head laid against the back of the couch, snoozing away. She laughed but felt like this was partially her fault for waking them up so early. She decided not to wake them up, and walked to her bedroom. She was changing clothes when she heard a knock on her bedroom door. She finished changing into her pajamas and went to open the door. Eddie was standing there leaning against the door frame with his arm. "Sorry I didn't want to wake you up. You looked so peaceful while you were sleeping." He pushed off the door frame but stayed where he was standing, staring deep into her eyes. "Well darling you almost made me miss out." Annie smiled. "Miss out on what?" He looked down at her lips and back into her eyes. Her breath ceased and her heart rate quickened. She knew what he was going to do before he did it, and she also knew she wanted it to happen. He grabbed the side of her face and guided her lips to meet his. His kissed her slow and soft at first, as if asking if it was ok. Her response was to deepen the kiss. His hand went into her hair and he pushed her into her room, backing her into a wall. He pushed against her with enough force to make the breath leave her lungs. She threw her head back to gasp for air, and he took her invitation to trail kisses down her neck. He stopped to meet her eyes once more, before placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "Eddie," her words came out as more of a whisper. "Yes baby?" He whispered back to her. She didn't hide the fact that his words made her melt. "Will you stay with me tonight?" She asked him. He raised his eyebrows, and she mentally scolded herself. What was she saying? She has known this man for a week, and she was asking him to stay the night with her? It's not like she was asking him to have sex with her, just sleep beside her.. it wasn't as bad, right? "Are you sure?" He said reassuring that she meant what she said. "Yes, I mean you don't have to. I'm not asking for.. that.. I just.. it's my first night alone in the house and.." he placed his finger over her lips "Of course I'll stay with you." She walked to the closet and threw him a Metallica shirt and some over sized sweat pants she bought from the thrift store a long time ago. "I'm going to walk Dustin home, I'll be back." She went to leave the room, but Eddie grabbed her wrist "He already went home, love" She felt bad for not saying bye to him before he left, but she was too distracted to think about it for long. Eddie changed in her bathroom and came back to her bedroom. They crawled under the blankets and pulled each other close, before falling into a blissful sleep.
