Kyou's POV

"Borrow my powers..?"

I was dazed. It was all because of Dr. Rin's words and now, the customers passing through the door kept bumping me.

I should move forward... forward to him. However, what do those words mean? Is this doctor even trusted?

"Yes, yes! Hurry up, let's move this to the storage room!" He tapped the table about seven times. "Also, you're blocking the driveway!"

"Sorry..?"

"I mean, the doorway!"

"O-oh... But, borrow my powers... as in strength?"

"Of course, what else?!"

"Ah..." I misunderstood.

... But what's with his smirk earlier? I still couldn't relax. Moreover, why should we move to the storage room?!

In a count of 1... 2... 3! We lifted the table.

People's stares were about to punch holes in us. We didn't even look like this restaurant's crew so it was natural to look weird as we entered the storage room.

Luckily, there were already two chairs inside. Sitting under this gray atmosphere, we seemed to be having an interrogation.

Let's insert the lampshade effect.

"So..." Dr. Rin spoke first. "You're a Zeyern?"

"Y-yes."

"Hm... Do you have the same ability as your father... Zack Zeyern?"

Straight to the point. He knew my father's ability... I finally found the doctor that I've been looking for. It's uncertain to trust him... but he's the only one that could help me at the moment.

So nevertheless, I nodded. "Soon, my eyes might reach their limit... If ever I became blind, will there be a cure for me?"

"... Honestly, there is none."

"But, there is a way, right? Uncle Yo told me. How did you help my dad? Is it also possible for me to prevent my blindness?!"

Dr. Rin brought out a fan and I abruptly leaned back when he fanned me while letting these words out: "You gotta chill, a'right?"

Chill... "W-well, I am... probably."

"If you say so." He shrugged. "But, hmm... to start with, let me explain how your ability works."

"Oh, ah... Go ahead."

"Thanks, Mr. Zeyern's junior." He brought out a pen and a notebook, then proceeded. "So, you read minds through looking directly at a person, correct?"

"Yes..."

"When I examined your father, a certain case came to my mind... It was color blindness."

"... Will that also happen to my eyes?"

"Hm... There's a possibility but we won't focus on that. Have you heard of the concept where our surroundings were not originally colorful?"

"I have... It's because of a certain part of our eyes that gives color to our vision, right?"

"Precisely. Light enters our eyes and around our retina has cells called cones and rods. They are responsible for transmitting lights. The brain receives information from these cells, connecting to the nerve cells, that helps to recognize and identify colors. So, if they were damaged, it might cause color blindness."

"Wow... You sounded like a doctor just now."

"Hey, how rude! I AM a doctor!"

"Yes, yes. I apologize." I averted my gaze, then looked at him again. As he wrote something in his notebook, I asked, "so, how is it connected?"
