A young teen was listening to music with his headphones as the car he was in drove down the highway on a rainy day.

"Hey...you doing okay back there, Miles?" The boy's dad asked him, looking back at him through the rearview mirror.

Miles just glances over at him, not really able to come up with any words at the moment, probably still trying to take in the fact they left their hometown.

His dad, Jefferson Davis, sighs and says. "I know you'll miss being in New York with your Uncle Aaron and anyone else you know, but sometimes things change. Maybe this could be a good opportunity for you to meet new people."

"Sure dad..." Miles muttered quietly as he gazed out the window at the city they were approaching in the distance: Gotham City.

The nearby city was filled with tons of tall structures and unique gothic architecture that made the city look like a fusion of modern cities and a castle. And the place had a certain darkness to it, with many of the buildings looking like a shadow was still being cast on it, likely from the huge corporation buildings standing taller than the smaller apartments and hotels. There was about three bridges to get in and out of Gotham, though there was also an airport on the city outskirts and a harbor, so escape from the city wasn't impossible. All in all, the place looked like it was one step away from dystopia.

After 30 minutes of navigating through the traffic, the family reaches their new apartment in Gotham and begin unloading their boxes and furniture.

Miles took a moment to look around and see the streets, finding the occasional people walking down the sidewalk on a normal day like today, but he could feel a small bit of dread inside him that might've been normal for these people.

This entire city just felt wrong and Miles was questioning his parents decision to even move their life to this place.

Nearby, he could hear the sound of a couple of books falling onto the sidewalk, followed by someone groaning.

Upon looking over, he saw a girl sitting in a wheelchair, red hair clearly seen from his spot blowing in the wind as she was trying to pick up the books that fell.

Miles comes over and helps the girl get the books up. "Let me help with that."

"Thanks." The girl said as she was handed every book from the ground. "You look new to these streets. Are you visiting Gotham?"

"Just moved here." Miles answered. "My dad moved from working NYPD to this place."

"Well that's surprising..." The girl says with a smile while holding back a small giggle, as if she knew something he didn't.

"Uh...is something wrong?" Miles says with a confused face.

"Oh it's nothing, just finding it ironic." She tells him. "My dad is the Gotham PD commissioner."
