Miles was in his room, still a mess in both his hair and his emotional state from what's happened recently.

Apparently, the bombs had gone off at the high profile part of Arkham, releasing tons of criminals from Killer Croc and Clayface to Poison Ivy and Mr Freeze.

Thankfully, Jefferson, Montoya and all of the other police involved made it out alive with help from someone else wearing dark clothes like Batman, though Miles' dad hasn't asked anyone who their rescuer was yet.

One of these high level villains had some insane and psychotic plan to attack Gotham's hospital in order to get Batman's attention, releasing a deadly gas that affected all of the patients and staff there......including Miles' mom.

The boy was still remembering being brought to the hospital and seeing his mom's face in person....he could barely recognize her anymore.

His dad was emotional the entire time, feeling regrets about ever leaving New York for Gotham. Miles could even tell that he was having some anger inside, wanting the creep that did this to pay.

In a way, Miles felt guilty during this, as if it was his fault this happened to his mother. Batman had chosen to stop Daggett's men from affecting the water supply instead of helping keep all of the high level criminals from escaping. If something else was done differently, like Miles just staying quiet about the chemicals or someone calling for help from outside Gotham, that madman wouldn't have caused this and his mom would be safe and back home with him.

Though in the same vein, he knew still knew it was also Daggett's fault, this being his plan regardless of what any villains that escaped did while he was making money off of other's poisoning. The boy was torn between wanting to be angry at Batman, wanting Daggett to suffer and wanting the psychopath responsible for gassing the hospital dead.

He soon gets a text message from Barbara asking if he was alright, trying to assure him that she was there if he wanted to talk with someone. Miles just thanked her, but also said he needed some time to himself, which Barbara never texted back after that.

With his mother now paralyzed because of the criminal and his father now busy with patrol, Miles was now alone every evening and night, only having his dad in the morning before he goes to school. He might as well be an orphan that night due to the distance between himself and his family.

Miles decided he needed to get some fresh air outside and play some music to get his mind off of what was happening, stepping out onto the sidewalk and walking down the streets as he selected his playlist.

He was so distracted with his thoughts and the music playing in his ears, that he didn't notice someone following him closely, going onto a route parallel to his keep up. Once he was passing by an alleyway, Miles was grabbed by him and jerked into the spot, hand covering the kid's mouth as he struggled to get loose.

"Nothin' personal, kid, but we can't have loose ends runin' around, now can we?" The man says, revealing right away to the boy who this man was working for and why he was being strangled with gloved hands.

Despite the boy struggling to focus with the air being cut off, he began to see red and felt ready to yell. To the man's surprise, Miles breaks loose by slamming the back of his head into his face, giving him the moment he needs to get loose. Instead of trying to run away this time, he's decided he's had enough of the crime in this city and was going to vent it out on this man for working for the man responsible for his situation.

The man tries to throw a few punches, but Miles dodged most of them before shoving the man into a trash can with a desperate push, not wanting to deal with a long melee with the punk as he kicks him the face while he was on the ground and follows it up with more kicks across his body.
