"I thought you would've lasted longer than this!" I looked over to see Kelly walking down the hallway towards me. "Disappointing effort, Ella!"
I shut my locker and raised an eyebrow at her. "What are you on about?"
"Don't be acting dumb now!" She rolled her eyes at me, hugging her school books to her chest. "There's a certain someone bragging about how he's got a date with you this weekend."
"Oh, that." News sure did travel fast around here. I had only been at school for five minutes and was already getting bombarded. "He kept texting me last night."
"And how did he get your number?" She questioned, a smirk playing on her lips.
I felt myself blushing and tried to hide it by looking casually down at the ground so my hair would shield my cheeks. "After he dropped me off home yesterday..." Kelly gave me a stern look and I pouted. "He looked so helpless!"
She laughed and shook her head at me. "As much as I'd love to see you and Dom frolicking in the sunset and making babies, I just don't want to see you get hurt."
I raised an eyebrow at the scenario she created. "That's getting a bit ahead of yourself isn't it?"
"I'm being serious!" She whined, stamping her foot like a toddler having a tantrum. "Dom is not the kind of guy who will stick to one girl. And I don't want this relationship affecting ours."
"Aw, tear!" I ran a finger down my cheek and let out a laugh as she gave me a light slap on the arm. Kelly began to swiftly walk down the hallway and I had to bring myself to a jog to keep up. "Don't worry! It's just one date."
Kelly suddenly stopped causing me to almost run into the back of her. Once I steadied myself, I looked over her shoulder to see the reason why we had almost collided was none other than Dominic Howard with a pretty blonde girl. Her arms were wrapped loosely around his neck and she was grinning up at him with a sickly sweet smile. He was looking down at her with that trademark smirk of his that normally made me feel giddy but at the moment was making me want to shove my head in a toilet.
"That pig." Kelly growled, eyes narrowed at the pair.
I placed a hand on her shoulder to try and calm her down. "It's okay." I wasn't sure whether I was trying to convince Kelly or myself, but either way I was not one for a confrontation. "Let's just keep walking."
As we began to continue on down the hall, I tried my hardest not to look in their direction but unfortunately for me I never had strong will power. At the same moment I decided I was going to have just one peek, Dominic's eyes met mine over the girls shoulder. Not wanting to seem like I cared, I gave him a goofy grin and a thumbs up. Needless to say, the look on his face was definitely one of confusion.
Once we were out of ear shot, Kelly looked at me as if I was crazy. "Why the hell did you give him a thumbs up?!"
"I don't know! I panicked!" I whined, flailing my arms in the air. It wasn't that I was surprised that Dominic was already flirting with another girl, but there was a little bit of hope I had stored away thinking he might actually be a decent guy.
Kelly curled one hand into a fist and began to softly punch the open palm of her other. "When I get my hands on that boy..." She stopped beating her own hand to run a finger across her neck and made a slicing sound.
I pouted and shook my head at her. "Please don't do anything! I agreed out of pity anyway so I can use that against him."
I gave her a sly wink and she let out a laugh. "I just don't understand how you can be so calm about this! Dominic Howard is the biggest sod. If I were you, I'd want to pummel his ass."
