A very familiar voice hit Minjeong's ears. She wiped the melted snow off her eyes to be able to see the person's face. Just as she imagined, it was Aeri.
"Kim Minjeong, what a pleasure to meet you here." The older said, before bursting out laughing.
"Actually, it's no pleasure. Though I am happy you are alone. I've seen that you weren't alone last night. You've been accompanied by someone I told you to stay away from. Now tell me, Kim, wasn't I clear enough?" The older girl said in a very calm voice, which Minjeong found scary.
Without realizing, Minjeong was hit in the face with a piece of ice. The thick piece of ice caused a deep cut into Minjeong's flesh. Her cheek started to bleed and small drops of the red liquid were falling onto the ground. Aeri laughed like at the younger's look.
"Look at you... So pitiful, ugly and useless. Jimin would never love you." Aeri spat the words towards Minjeong.
"So let me repeat myself. Stay away from my Jimin, or else... This cut will be the least painful thing I'll do to you."
After the older girl finished her threat, she left Minjeong behind, laughing hysterically. Minjeong touched her cheek and backed her hand away, since every touch would sting her. She got up from the snow. Her clothes were soaking wet and her hands were red.
She was cold and hurt. After she collected her strengths, the short girl slowly made her way to her apartment. She did get a few stares by the people who she passed by, but she didn't mind them. She opened the door of her apartment and the warm air hit her face in an instant.
She entered her home and took of her shoes. She put her bag aside and went straight to her closet to get some clothes to change into. After she put on her fluffy beige hoodie and light grey sweatpants, she went to the bathroom and cleaned her wound. She then headed to the living room and wrapped herself with fluffy blankets.
While she was watching TV, she sneezed with all her force.
"I'm getting sick... Oh god." She said as she wiped her nose with the sleeve of her hoodie.
Meanwhile, Jimin was preoccupied with writing her third poetry book. Every single poem was about Minjeong. She wrote eleven, but her favorite one was the ninth one:
'With the light that shines through you
All of my feelings felt so true
Your eyes sparkle like the ocean
Your words are to me like a love potion
Until death breaks us apart
I'll make sure to fulfill your heart.'She wrote it right after arriving to the pastry, who was surprisingly empty, even though it was almost Christmas. After she read that poem for the 20th time, she decided to call Minjeong to see if she arrived home safely.
Her phone was ringing, but no one was responding. She tried to call her again, but no luck. Jimin found it weird, since the younger always responded right away. After a few minutes she called her again. And the cycle continued, until her shift was over. She decided to go to the younger's house to see if everything was okay. She got her address from her Snapchat.
Once she arrived at the shorter's apartment, Jimin knocked on the door. No response. She knocked again. Silence. She stayed in front of the door for two minutes, until she decided to call her friend again. But this time, she picked up.
"Oh, thank god. Minjeong-ah! You made me worry!" The older said, but only got a mumble as a reply.
"Min-Min? Are you okay?" Jimin asked as she checked to see if the younger was still on the phone.
"I don't feel well..." She managed to say.
"Why? What happened? How can I get in? Is there some way I can get in?" Jimin panicked, as she heard the girl's words.
"There's a key in the crack by the door." Minjeong remembered.
Jimin spared no time and looked for the key. Fortunately, she found it and unlocked the door.
