Nine year old Sivaangi skipped to her tuition sulking after a heavy argument with her mother who was having the hardest time controlling her hyper self now that her little brother was also in the picture and with not much second thoughts enrolled her in a nearby tuition to have some peace in the evening.
And Sivaangi was hell bent on not understanding how her mother believed that she could possibly sit in a place for so long! As if 6 hours of school isn't enough.
It's not long since they shifted from Kerala and she was just getting adapted to her new school and neighbourhood and her mother has already kicked her out.
"I'm probably adopted!" She stomped pouting kicking a stone and opened the gate fiddling with the brown ribbon in her double plaits.
She heard the crowd reciting the tables and nothing feared her more than those annoyingly doubling up numbers and decided to sprint away turning swiftly only to be collided with a never ending legs that kept going and she vaguely saw a face that her limited height allowed her to.
Not minding she took a step forward to run back home but shreiked sensing something pulling her hair.
"Ahhhh" she turned to see her ribbon stuck between the zip of his bag and stood helpless when she saw the boy who slowly removed the bag from his back and bent down to her height to help her.
"Iru ma" she heard his warm voice and finally looked at his face only to be confused if she was dreaming. The elder boy had such calm features with some imperfect facial hair poking from his smooth skin and the sunlight behind him made it seem like there was a halo making her wonder if the Aladdin from her night time story book jumped out.
She glanced down to his Id card and tried reading the long name squeezing her eyes, English never made sense to her and she just dint understand why they bothered to put so much letters in the alphabets when v and w had the same sounds, y and I, o and u she can just go on.
"Ashwin Kumar LakshmiKanthan"
He decided to help the little girl chuckling when she raised her eyebrows to him."That's a long name" she defended not wanting him to know her inability to read English.
"It is! And what's yours?" He tapped her chin
"Sivaangi Krish" she showed him her Id card
"Ok, ulla polaam va" he held her hands and she pulled him back almost immediately
"Etta, enikki tuition vena" she whined pulling his fingers and Ashwin took a minute to comprehend how she addressed him and understood she was new to the place, language people basically everything. But what he didn't know was even the little 9 year old didn't wanna address him as chetta, he was too good looking to be her brother and she dint wanna regret later.
She remembered her big cousin tell her one day how dulquer Salman was too pretty and would never address him as chetta. This was pretty much the same.
"Apo madam tuition cut pantu odrathuku than avlo avasarama thirumbuninga?" He kept his hands on his hips while the little one blinked, she was half tamil but he was too fast with his words for her to catch the meaning.
Understanding her plight Ashwin simply held out his hands to her who pouted back at him. He gestured his hands again making her roll her eyes and sigh as she held his little finger in her hand. His whole hand was too big for her small ones.
He brought her in and waved at Smithi
"Akka, un new student" he brought Sivaangi to his front holding her shoulders who was already frowning at the tables written in the white board.
