Georgia and her mom were never used to seeing eye to eye on things, so when they would talk, there wouldn't be much of an agreement.
_______
I yawned, walking down the stairs, seeing Ella watching The Brady Bunch.
Since it's summer break, I slept pretty late, but sometimes I regret it, because it left me tired as a sloth.
"Good afternoon." Ella told me, her gaze fixed on the TV.
"Afternoon." I replied back, but it came out more as a mumble.
I trudged toward the microwave, seeing the breakfast my mom left for me, as usual. This time, it was bacon and scrambled eggs, my favorite.
"Oh, Georgia, you're awake," My mother entered the kitchen, saying. "I need to speak with you."
I rolled my eyes, knowing our 'talks' never go well.
"Can't I eat first? I'm hungry." I whined, begging.
"Okay, but quickly, this is important." I didn't reply, and just went up to my room to eat.
When finished, I washed my hands, then brought the plate downstairs.
My mom was sat next to Ella, talking to her. She looked up once she noticed me, and stood up.
"Come here for a second, sweetheart." She said, directing me to the kitchen table.
I sat down and waited for her to say something so we can disagree like usual.
"Listen, I know this is hard for you, me and Keaton getting married," She began. "But you have to understand that sometimes things in life change, and you have to accept that change."
No I don't.
"Your father and I are not together anymore, I have a right to move on. You have to understand that. We love each other very much, and he's a really sweet guy."
He called you a bitch and skank, and so many other things, but oh well.
Oh, and you two argue practically every day, but oh well.
"This is happening, okay? You need to be nice to him. He made a mistake and apologized, you can forgive him." She continues to defend.
I just looked at her like she had two heads.
"Don't look at me like that, Georgia. Do you understand he made a mistake? Do you understand that me and him love each other and I deserve to be happy?" I love my mother dearly, but sitting here for too long while she defends the man who treats her like complete shit is starting to give me a headache.
"I'm gonna get some fresh air outside. It's quite hot in here." I ignore her, getting up to leave, not bothering to see her reaction.
Once I stepped outside, I was immediately hit with a light drizzle that was pouring down.
I completely forgot that it was supposed to rain today, I realized.
I didn't want to go back inside, so I braved the rain, which wasn't too heavy, and began walking down the town street.
It wasn't long before the rain began to fall more heavily, soaking my clothes and hair.
Great, now I do have to go home, I rolled my eyes.
As I was about to turn around and head back, a car pulled up beside me.
I smiled brightly, knowing who it was as soon as he rolled the window down. "Now what are you doing out here in the rain, red?"
I haven't seen Wyatt since summer break started, because him and his family went to Florida to visit relatives there, as they do every year. We've been bestfriends since the 4th grade. I didn't really have many friends at that time, so it felt like a miracle when he came along.
We didn't ask to be each other's friend, we just became closer and always talked and sat with each other during lunch. He was my only real friend in Elementary School, while I
considered the others just classmates. We've been friends for so long, that we would do anything for each other; even lie.
"Mom." I shrugged, and he nodded, knowingly.
"And to think I thought by the time I got back, she would've dumped him. No one can ever talk some sense into your mother." He replied, shaking his head in disappointment.
"Yep." I responded, wrapping my arms around my shoulders as it started to get chilly.
He opened the door on the other side and said, "Get in, you're gonna trigger your asthma." Not wasting any time, I walked around the car and hopped into it, the smell of vanilla hitting my nostrils instantly.
My inhaler wasn't with me, and could already feel the effects creeping up.
"Sit up straight and breathe in through your nose, and exhale through your mouth, but long deep breathes." He tells me, and I did so. It helped a bit, but I just hoped we get back to my house in time before it gets worse.
He drove me to his house and told me to wait a moment. It was quiet for a while, me still doing what he said, until I jumped up, startled by the sound of thunder.
I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to draw out the noise, not realizing he came back until he gently patted my shoulder.
"Uhh here, you can change into these. Mia doesn't mind." He offered, handing me his sister's clothes.
"I'll get out while you change." He said, and left the car again.
She's older than me, how am I supposed to fit into these? I wondered.
I slipped off my clothes and changed into hers. Surprisingly it did fit. Knocking gently on the window, Wyatt turned around, seeing that I was finished getting changed.
He hopped back into the car, started it, and then drove off. We talked for a bit, just catching up on things. I asked him why he didn't tell me he came back, and said he wanted to surprise me.
We then arrived at my house, which I didn't
want to be at right now for obvious reasons, but needed my inhaler or else I would practically die.
"Here, have this." He offered, pulling an umbrella from behind the seat.
"Aren't you gonna need it?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"It's fine, we have more in the house." He answered, a soft smile on his face.
"Well, thank you, and thanks for the clothes as well," I say, taking it. 'No problem." He says as he watches me open the door, quickly opening the umbrella before I get wet again.
"I'll see you later." I tell him, and he nods, watching me go inside before driving away.
I hope you liked this chapter!❤️
