There was a time when Georgia and Wyatt were close than ever. Where confessions were made, changing their friendship into something more.

But he wasn't the only one she became closer with.

_________

My feet were getting tired as I waited for Wyatt on the porch.

"Where is he?" I muttered, becoming
impatient.

I breathed a sigh of relief when his car pulled into the driveway.

"Sorry for being late, had to drop Skyler off at Devin's." He explained, looking at me apologetically.

Skyer was his niece, whom he often babysits when his brother and sister-in-law went on dates. When they were drunk, they would sometimes spend the night in a hotel, leaving her to stay at his place for the night because they didn't want her to see them in that state. Fortunately, the bartender was a close friend who would drive them to the hotel.

"It's fine." I responded, opening the door and hopping inside.

We soon arrived at Dairy Queen, our favorite ice cream place since we were kids.

"The usual?" The waitress asked, and I nodded. She wrote down Wyatt's order, already knowing what it is; butterscotch sundae.

When our orders arrived, I dug into mine; a butter pecan sundae.

"You're awfully quiet today," I observed, breaking the silence between us. "You haven't even touched your dessert yet."

"Ummm," He coughed dryly, twirling the spoon around. He dropped the spoon, taking a deep breath and looking out the window for a second, then at the table. "Just thinking about something." He finally looked up at me and said.

"What is it?" I asked, taking another spoonful of my sundae.

He seemed anxious, rubbing his knees nervously.

I began to worry, and placed the spoon back into the cup, and focused on him.

"What's wrong?"

"Just uhhh....fuck it, ummm, I know we've been friends for a long time, and ummm," He fiddled with his fingers, avoiding eye contact with me for a second. "And it's fine if you don't feel the same way, but....gosh, I'm terrible at this, uhhh....I like—you. As in, more than just a friend."

My eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by his confession, but then a smile soon crept up on my face. When he saw my expression, his face changed from nervous to hopeful.

"I've been waiting for you to say those words for so long! I like you too!" I exclaimed, and his face lit up with delight when he heard that.

"That's great! Maybe we can go to the movies on Saturday? I know you don't like going out much. We can watch the new movie that just came out. It's called, Grease." He suggested, his face looking nervous again.

"Sure, I guess." I agreed, laughing awkwardly.

We soon started laughing together, attempting to break the awkwardness of what just occurred.
