"Ja må hon leva, ja må hon leva!"
Frida chuckled when she heard Agnetha's voice through the phone, which she had picked up.
"You're the first, Minsting!"
"Really, Benny then?"
"I haven't seen him yet. He's in his own room, as always."
"I see. Are you still in bed, then? Sorry!"
"I like being awakened by your angelic voice," she replied, turning onto her back and turning on the speaker function. This was going to be a long conversation and she wanted to be comfortable. "How are you?"
"Don't ask. If I didn't love you so much, I would have said I hated you!"
She burst out in laughter. "You're your good old, faithful, schizo self this morning, Agge?"
"You can call it that, yes. I was with Björn yesterday."
"Oh yeah, and? Cozy?"
"Shut it, hypocrite!"
She laughed out loud and heard Agnetha chuckle as well. Björn had dropped the bomb, that was obvious, and Agnetha was now fretting about his proposal... she understood that too. "Oh, but doesn't it seem wonderful to you then? Just working in the studio, a special and only one concert! I think it would be so cool!"
She heard Agnetha hum and then list six thousand reasons why she couldn't sing anymore. With seven thousand counter-arguments, she then swept them off the table. From Agnetha's tone she could hear that this door was not closed completely. She was just scared and she couldn't blame her for that. In recent years she had been told a little too often that she was no good, that she was inadequate, or that she was stupid, ugly, backward or whatever. Frida regretted deeply that she had not been there for Agnetha more during that time. Maybe she would have told her sooner how things were at home? But after the death of Birgit and Ingvar, Agnetha fell in love with the wrong person and she was busy with Djupa Andetag and then with her own fate... Only after Ruzzo's death, Agnetha had told her that she had filed a lawsuit against Thomas and had given a hint of what was going on.
"I'm coming to Sweden soon," Frida said suddenly, even though she hadn't really thought about it. "Then we can meet up and catch up in person. If you feel like it, we can do some singing again?"
She hoped fervently for a yes from her friend. It had been so terribly long time since they had sung together. Agnetha had done everything possible to avoid it all these years, it seemed. Probably that could also be traced back to that ex of hers. But she missed it so much. There was only one person with whom she could be so much herself musically.
"Yeah, well, I don't know about that singing, but when are you coming?"
They agreed that she would come up with some suggestions via text message and then talked about how everyone they knew was doing. After an hour, they ended the call. Agnetha would take the opportunity, she was sure about it, and she felt her eyes fill with tears as she stared at the ceiling. God, how grateful she was! She hadn't thought of it beforehand and the original one billion dollar offer was an idiotic plan she hadn't been interested in. But because of this move by Björn, it was suddenly possible and she couldn't wait to start the project. The guys would probably start writing music soon, after Agge had agreed, and then they would be together again. Although the four of them had been through an awful lot, the bond between them, the friendship, the love perhaps even, had always remained. Her relationship with Benny had changed drastically, but she wouldn't miss him for the world. In the early 1980s, she never dreamed they would find each other again - albeit in a different way....
