When I got home from school, my nose led me to the kitchen, where my mom was making dinner.
I drop my bags in one chair and sit in the other at the dining table.
"How much homework do you have?" She asked me, chopping some vegetables up.
"I have three pages of math, two pages of social studies and spelling." I told my mom, getting to work.

I hear the front door open and I know it's dad.
I jump up from my chair and run drown the hall to him. I jump on him, hugging the life out of him. I grin.
I pull back and look at his face which was pained and the grin slips off my face.
"What's wrong?" I ask leading him to the kitchen.
Once he sits down he says. "I've got good news and bad news."
"Bad news first." My mom sets down the knife and sits down beside him at the table.
"Well, work isn't going too well and the boss had to cut some people off and I was one of them." He pulls his hat off.
"It's going to be okay." My mom croons and rubs his back while I stand in shock.
"The good news is that we get to move to the country!"
"WHAT, WE'RE MOVING? WE CAN'T" I yell at them slamming my fist down on the table.
"But kate, you love the country. Isn't that what you always wanted to do, live in the country?" My mom asks me.
Yeah, when I was like four!" I storm up the stairs to my room and slam my door.
~*~
I shimmy myself through the open window in my room.
I grab my bag as I stand on the siding of the house.
Good thing we have a tree, I think as I take a leap into the tree and slide down as if it were a fire pole.
I make my way next door to my best friends house.
He's always been my friend, he's been there through every situation, good or bad.
I knock on the door and he immediately opens up.
"What's wrong?" He asks when he sees my tear streaked face.
I just shake my head as I hug him, needing all the love I can get.
~*~
We sit down on his bed upstairs. "So, your just gonna leave me?" He asks.
"No, I'll try to talk them into staying. " He moves closer to me and puts his arm around me. I put my head on his shoulder.
"Well, just in case you do move, I shuld tell you something. " He tells me.
Oh no, here it comes, I thought. "I love you." I knew it! What should I say? "I love you too." He leans in to kiss me.
It was awesome! I can't believe it! He kissed me! I thought.
