Me and Justin walk hand and hand into the dance and everyone close to the door stops and looks at us. I can feel my cheeks turn bright red and Justin puts his arm around me. We start at the punch bowl and he pours a cup for me. "So, you know how to dance?" He yells over the loud music. "Yeah. I had dance lessons a few years ago for a contest my mom put me in." I yell back. He just smiles and nods.
After I have a few more sips of my punch, Justin asks if I wanted to dance. "Sure." I answer. He takes my hand and we start slow dancing to 'My Little Girl' by Tim McGraw. Whenever I hear that song I just want to cry. I brings back too many memories. Plus, my dad sang it to me on his wedding day. That's what I hated most. It all turned into a big mess at the end of the day when he went out and got drunk.
Now I'm dancing to the same song at my sophomore dance. I put my arms around Justin's neck and he puts his hands on my waist. Halfway through the song he starts looking at me and smiles. "What?" I ask. "Nothing. I just can't believe I had the pleasure of meeting you, that's all." I look down with the sense that I'm blushing again.
He always does that. He says something charming and makes me blush all the time. It's actually really cute though. I put my head on his chest and listen to his heartbeat. I know this might sound crazy but I think I'm in love with him. He's always seemed like the kind of boy who doesn't take the time to be into all the love stuff. I've always thought of him as a nerd but tonight I see so much more in him.
The song ends and 'Just like fire' by Pink comes on so me and Justin go sit down at a table. "So, where'd that dress come from?" Justin asks. I look down at my dress. "Oh, this? Online... Haha. I ordered some dresses with my friend one night last year and this was one of 'em." He smiles and sits back. I feel myself start to blush and stand up. "I'm gonna go to the restroom, be right back." I tell him then scurry away to the restroom.
I look in the mirror and lean on the sink. 'What am I doing?' I mumble to myself. I turn the sink on with cold water and splash my face, then dry off. I walk out of the bathroom and start walking back to the Gymnasium. Suddenly a hand goes around my mouth and drags me into the nearest classroom. The hand lets go and I see who it is. "Dylan?!"
