Prabhneet Kaur
I never thought my sister would marry Harry Jiju, but life has a way of throwing the most unexpected things our way.
One morning, I woke up to the sound of Gunu Didi's voice calling my name. "Prabh, putt, wake up," she said softly. When I opened my eyes, I saw tears staining her cheeks, and my heart sank.
"Didi, what happened? Are you okay?" I asked, feeling a knot form in my stomach.
She wiped her face quickly, trying to compose herself. "Prabh, will you do what I say?" she asked, her voice shaky.
"Of course, Jiju. What's wrong?" I replied, worried about what could have happened.
"Pack your things, Prabh," Jiju said, his voice calm but filled with urgency. "You're moving into the Aulakh Mansion. Now that Jashan Phabi, Roop, and Gunu are married, these people will have just you to target. And if that happens, Aman will end up hurting them."
I was confused. "Why would Aman do that?" I asked.
"No reason," Gunu Didi said, trying to smile. "He just cares about you a lot."
I nodded slowly, still processing everything. "Okay, I'll pack. But will I be able to see Dadi, Dadu, and Paji again?" I asked, the thought of being away from them made my heart ache.
"Of course you will, Prabh," Jiju said, his smile reassuring.
As I arrived at my eldest sister's house, my heart raced with anticipation. It had been a while since I was in this home, surrounded by family. The thought of being with them again filled me with comfort, and I couldn't wait to reunite. But little did I know, my youngest brother-in-law had a surprise in store for me, a surprise that would bring me even closer to my oldest brother-in-law.
With a playful gleam in his eyes, my youngest brother-in-law, Kavi, pulled me aside and spoke excitedly. "I explained everything to Harry Jiju. He knows why you're here. We want you to feel welcome and loved, Prabh."
His words were full of warmth, and I felt a sense of belonging in that moment, knowing that they truly cared for me. It was more than just family – it was love and protection that ran deep.
In the eyes of my three amazing brothers-in-law, I was not just a sister-in-law, but their beloved little sister. Their care for me was evident in every smile, every joke, and every hug. They made me feel cherished and safe, like I was a part of something much bigger than just blood relations.
"You did the right thing," Kavi Jiju said, giving Harry Jiju a reassuring pat on the back.
"Prabh, are you okay?" Aman asked, his deep brown eyes filled with concern as he studied me closely.
"I was asleep when all of this happened," I explained, trying to smile through the exhaustion. "Gunu Didi and Jiju woke me up, and now, I'm just relieved to be out of there."
Aman walked over and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry. You're my sister now, Prabh. I'll make sure you're safe. Gunu is Harry's responsibility, but you're ours now."
"That's right," Jashan Didi said, pulling me into a warm hug. "You and Gunu are part of our family now. You don't have to worry about anything. We'll take care of you."
"And Roop is always around, too," Aman added, trying to lighten the mood. "And Yuvraj, of course. You're never alone."
"This is your home now, Prabh," Kavi Jiju finally said, his voice filled with affection.
As I walked into my new room, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of emotions. The home I grew up in had a special place in my heart. It was where I had laughed, cried, and experienced so many important moments. But now, it was time for a new beginning.
