Season 4, Episode 8
3rd person POV:
"Can I show you something?" Will asked. Mike nodded. He had been so worried about El he just couldn't calm down. Will grabbed his painting and gave it to Mike. He was scared about what Mike would think. Mike looked confused but placed the map he was holding down besides him and slowly took the painting from Will. He then took a piece of string off and slowly opened it. Mike's eyes widdened. He looked at the painting and smiled. "This is amazing!" Will smiled a little. "Did you paint this?" Mike asked. Will nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. I mean... I mean, El asked me to. she commissioned it, basically. I mean, she told me what to draw." Will replied. Jonathan then look through the rear view mirror to look at Will. But Jonathan noticed at Mike's smile disappeared after Will said that El wanted him to paint it. You could even say that Mike looked a bit annoyed.
"Anyway, my point is, see how how you're leading us here? You're guiding the whole party, inspiring us. That... that's what you do. And see your coatbof arms here? It's a heart. And I know it's sort of on the nose, but that's what holds the party together. Heart. Beacuase, I mean, without heart, we'd all fall apart. Even El. Especially El." Will said. Mike was just shocked. He couldn't talk nor move. "El will always need you, Mike! No matter what." Will looked like he was about to cry. Mike wanted to do something but he still couldn't move.
"Somebody will always need you! Lucas, Dustin, Max, El, and even me...!" Will looked down and inhaled deeply. "El... she won't ever think that you're just a nerd. Because... because you aren't! Okay?" Will was so close to crying, you could see tears forming in his eyes. "Even if El was mad at you.... she would.. she would never say that..!" Mike looked normal again. He then asked, "Really?" "Yes! El will always think that you're cool! No matter what..! And..." Will's voice started to break. "I'll always think that you're cool, too! I always did! But.. but that's not the point. My- my point is.... that El still loves you. No matter what because.... you make her feel different... you make her feel like she's loved so much by you. Especially you..!"
Mike and Will both looked sad. "So... whenever you feel like she doesn't need you, always know she will. Okay..?" Will said. "O...okay" Will looked away. You could hear him sniffing. Mike look back at the painting and thought about everything Will just told him. Mike started to think about what would cheer up Will. He looked at him, then back at the painting. But right after that, he heard something he hoped to never hear... Will crying. Will may be silently crying, but since Mike is right next to him, he could hear. Will put his hand over his mouth. And right after Mike saw that, he knew he had to do someting at that exact moment
"Will?" Mike said. He heard Will sniffed. "W....what" You could hear how sad he was by the tone of his voice. "Can you....can you please look at me?" Will wiped his tears away and turned around, looked at Mike. He then pulled Will into a hug. A hug that wasn't too tight nor too light, but a hug that ment 'I'm sorry'. "Its okay. Let it all out." Will then sobbed into Mikes chest. "I'm sorry.." Will said in a muffled voice. "I'm sorry, Will. I should've been there for you." "Thank you, Mike.." Will then fell asleep because he stayed up for a long time. Mike sat down at his spot and ket Will sleep on his shoulder peacefully. Mike smiled at Will. 'Hes still adorable.. ' Mike thought. He then grabbed the painting and stared at it because he thought it was a beautiful painting. Mike smiled again but to himself.
Little did they know, Jonathan was watching them the whole time in the rearview mirror. Of course he looked away from them for 5 seconds to see where he was driving, but he still saw the whole thing. Jonathan smiled at the two younger boys. He missed the strong, cute relationship between Will and Mike. He then looked back at the road. Still smiling. And as for Argyle, he was still asleep from being drunk.
