Harry was a single alpha working on his farm. It was 1944 and most alphas had been recruited and sent to fight but Harry was the owner of his farm and had an injury to his knee from riding a horse a few years back. It wasn't bad but it limited him and if he was honest he didn't want to fight in a war.

He was in his late twenties and had no omega nor any pups yet. Since he was a young pup himself, he had dreamed of having a family of his own, to love and care for. It was hard in this town because new people were rare and he had no interest in any omegas already there.

It was selfish to be thinking of love and romance in times of war but Harry couldn't help how he felt.

From the crack of dawn until the sun went down Harry worked out on the farm. He had people who helped out but not so much anymore seeing as most of them had been sent to the front lines.

He was in his kitchen when Annie, his best friend, strolled in with her son Richard. "Hey Harry, came for some more eggs. I swear my boys eat more than grown men these days."

"Hiya Annie, they're growing boys, they need plenty to eat, don't you Richie?" The little boy struggled out his mother's arms and ran up to Harry with his arms outstretched.

"Harry, cuddle, please," the pup wiggled in his arms and tucked his face into Harry's neck until he was content.

"I missed you , darling. Have you been good for mummy?" the little boy nodded and turned to his mother who smiled at him.

"Yes, mummy says i'm the bestest boy but not to tell my brothers that," he spoke giggling with a sneaky grin.

"So Harry how have you been? Met anyone new, you know an omega and a pup moved in down where the Kennington's used to live." Annie wiggled her eyebrows while Harry rolled his eyes.

"I've not met anyone but i'll have to take a pie a
round to the omega," despite him dismissing Annie and her attempts to be a matchmaker, he couldn't help but be excited about the newcomers. Although if he has a pup, he probably has an alpha at war.

"Well i best grab these and get going, need to make a start on lunch for the boys," Harry passed Richard back to his mother and pulled her in for a quick hug.

"Bye Annie, bye bye Richie," she was a great friend and her boys were the cutest little pups even if they were mischievous nightmares sometimes.

That evening, Harry decided to take an apple pie to his new neighbours. Although he was an alpha, he still found himself getting nervous with clammy hands and butterflies in his tummy. It wasn't a bad feeling, he was just too hopeful about the omega.

He got to the oak door and knocked before stepping back and waiting. When the door opened, a beautiful omega stood in its place. He had deep blue eyes and a cute brown fringe with the sharpest cheekbones.

"Hey, I'm Harry Styles. I heard you moved in and thought i'd bring you a pie."

"Thank you. Come in, please we were just about to eat dinner, my names Louis." Harry followed the omega through the door and into his house. The omega's house smelled strongly of his floral scent with a hint of vanilla. It was comforting.

"I'm not going to turn down a home cooked meal. Where should i set down this pie?" Louis took the pie and put it on the counter when little feet pattered into the kitchen and Harry turned around.

"Mama, I'm hungry," the little pup crossed his arm and then turned to Harry," Hello, mister, who are you?" Harry laughed and Louis shook his head.

"Hiya, pup, I'm Harry. I heard you guys moved in so i bought you a pie."

"You two can sit at the table because dinner is ready let me just plate it up." Harry took at seat at the table and helped the pup up onto the the chair because he was struggling to get up.

"Thank you, Harry. My names Eddie but if mama's mad he calls me Edward." Louis bright everyone their food before sitting opposite Harry.

It was a casserole with some greens on the side and god did the omega know how to cook. He let out a low moan that made the omega's cheeks go pink. "Mmm, omega, this is delicious."

"Thanks, it's nothing special," Louis ducked his head shying away from the compliment.

"If this is nothing special, then i want to know what your special meals are," the pup was struggling to cut up his sausage so Harry grabbed his fork and knife and cut into bite sized pieces.

"This is tasty, mama," the pup said while chewing his food.

"Don't speak with your mouth full, Eddie," the pup huffed like he got this comment a lot from his mother.

Once they finished eating, Louis served them all some pie with cream on the side. "This is good, Harry. Did you make it yourself?" Louis asked.

"Yes, it's my mother's recipe and we had it all the time as a kid." The pup was eating messily so Harry wiped his dribbly chin with a spare handkerchief in his pocket.

Louis stacked their plates up once they'd finished and began washing the dishes. "Oh i can help with that seeing as you made the food,"Harry told him.

"No it's fine. I invited you for dinner so i don't expect you to clean up."

"If it bothers you, you can wash them and i'll dry them." The omega seemed to accept his offer as they both did their jobs.

"So, i was thinking you and Eddie might want to come visit the farm. Kids like animals, right?"

"That'd be great, Harry. Eddie would love it and so would i. Does tomorrow at 12 work for you?" Harry gave himself a mental par on the back for his idea.

"Yeah, that'd be fine. I'd best get going now but i'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye, Harry. Say bye, Eddie."

"Bye bye, Harry," the little boy waved happily and went back to playing with his toys.

That night Harry went to sleep with a content smile on his face and reminded himself of the bare skin where an alpha's mark would lay if the omega was mated.
