Hup!
Amane stuck the pole on the ground. He tilted his head up, staring at the the A. S. S flag with a grin. It might not be the best "wording" in the flag, but it was too late to go back now.
"Nice job, No. 7. He'll be happy for sure," he heard Akane spoke in his ears. The microphones in their suits were super handy.
"I wonder how it went with the Minamoto Corp. back in Japan." He continued.
Mitsuba was the key to the plan they made in the last meeting. It was a deceiving, effective strategy. All they need was a simple lie. The younger Minamoto brother was enough of a gullible man to believe Mitsuba's words.
"The spaceship launch is delayed to next month."
When, in fact, it wasn't. Their spaceship launched the next day, leaving the Minamotos in despair. They had already planned to surround the A. S. S at the launch setting, but of course, none of that happened. Now, all they can do is wait for the spaceship's return.
And if they do, what was the point? The launch already happened.
The two men awkwardly skipped their way back into the spaceship, ready to head home.
The spaceship started their engines, which bursted them through the empty space, directing towards the bluish-green ball that was Earth.
"This was a lot anti-climatic than I thought," Amane blinked.
"Heh, maybe you're just too excited to go home. Expecting something? Or someone?" Akane teased.
Amane could only pout and redden. How could he not? Afterall, his soon-to-be bride was waiting. Speaking of...
He swam to reach for his PPK (Personal Preference Kit). It opened to reveal a tiny, magenta notebook. Oh, yes. The very same one he received from Nene. Remembering their promise, he took a seat and flipped the cover open.
To my dearest Amane, in memory of our encounter.
He chuckled and turned the page over.
It all started when Prince Charming fell from the sky. Like a meteor, he crashed into the bushes in my garden. Leaves were ripped apart and stems cracked. Despite the mess, he laid there, squiggling through and looking for aid.
As I nursed him, his prominent features were highlighted by the sunlight. It was difficult to notice what a beautiful man he was. He almost looked inhumane. Perhaps an alien?
After a moment of silence, Prince asked a question. "If jt isn't too much of a bother, I'd like to do something for you in return."
I smiled mischiviously. "I don't need anything. Unless you'd be my lover. Or cure my illness."
I held my chuckle, but Prince had a beaming look in his eyes. "I'm no doctor, but I can be your lover."
The remaining pages were empty.
In memory of our encounter, huh.
Other than him falling from the sky and his handsomeness, the rest of the events were inaccurate. He wondered if this was what she expected would happen that day. That was so like her.
His heart rate accelerated.
This just made him miss her even more. He wanted her to continue her dream-like, romantisized story. He wanted to linger around her and joke about her thick ankles.
Just a few more days.
A few more days.
I hope the surgery went well. She'll be okay. I know she will.
Amane slipped the book into the kit, and went back to his station. And now, he would head back home peacefully into a new life.
Without the guilt for his brother.
Or perhaps, even A. S. S.
His job as Mr. Moon Man was finally over.
