Heaven's P.O.V
After a few more classes, the bell rang for lunch. April and I rushed to the cafeteria.
"I'm starving," exclaimed April, grabbing a tray.
"You're always starving April," I laughed, picking out a tuna sandwich, an orange, and a brownie for dessert. We were lucky to actually have good cafeteria food.
April and I made our way to our usual table, where our friends, Ashton, Claire, and Luke, were already seated.
"Hey guys," I said as I slid onto the bench next to Ashton.
My greeting was returned by a "Hi!" from Luke, a "Hey, have you seen my math book?" from Claire, and a "Oooh, are you going to eat all of that brownie?" from Ashton.
"Soooo...have you guys seen the new guy ummm... Calum? I think that's his name," I said, trying to sound casual.
"Yeah, Heaven here wants to know because she has this huge crush on him," April said, smirking as she ate her Jello.
"April!!! I do not! I haven't even talked to him!" I replied, annoyed.
"Oooh, Heaven has a cruuush!" Ashton shouted in a sing-song voice.
"Oh shut up Ash," I muttered, punching him in the arm.
"Hey! No need for violence!" Ashton said in a sassy tone.
"Whatever," I replied, sighing.
Claire finally spoke up.
"Yeah, I've seen him! I talked to him for a minute. He's originally from Australia, he's 18, he got held back a year, so that's why he's still in high school, and.... that's about it I guess."
I secretly devoured this information, because, truthfully, I DID have a crush on this new student.
I anxiously waited for the bell to ring so I could see if he was in any more of my classes. I checked my schedule and saw that I had chemistry next. Great, I was pretty good at chemistry. I walked into the classroom and was immediately disappointed that Calum was nowhere in sight. Sighing, I sat down at one of the two-person stations. Too bad none of my friends were here because, as usual, no one wanted to sit with me. I didn't let it get to me that much because I had my little circle of great friends, but it still stung a little. Our science teacher walked in and the class began.
10 minutes into the class, the door opened and someone walked in.
I tried not to stare, because it was Calum Hood.
"Mr. Hood, I presume?" our teacher questioned, clearly annoyed at his calm mood, despite being 10 minutes late.
"That's me," Calum replied, clicking his tongue and winking.
"I hope your unacceptable tardiness will NOT be a regular habit. Now take a seat," the teacher replied with a glare.
"Sure thing," said Calum.
I began internally hyperventilating.
The only empty seat was next to me.
I attempted to compose myself as he sat down, dropping his backpack at his feet.
"I'm Calum," he half-whispered, smiling.
Oh Lord Jesus help me. That smile could melt the ice caps.
"Uhhh, hi. I'm Heaven," I answered, trying not to sound completely retarded.
"I'm not very good at chemistry; I failed last year and got held back. I hope you're good at it so you can give me some pointers," he said, winking again.
How am I going to make it through this class without fainting?
"Well, I'm okay at it," I stuttered, blushing profusely.
"Ms. Whitney and Mr. Hood! Do you have something more important than chemistry to discuss? If not, then I suggest that you listen," barked the teacher sternly.
I snapped my head to the front and Calum snickered. I restrained from staring at him and thanked the angels above for blessing me with the hottest chemistry partner I'd ever had.
