As the old saying goes, 'It is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will help them develop into successful and respected human beings.'
Louis is kind of wishing he had paid more attention to that advice alot earlier on in parenthood. Harry hasn't been over to the house in over a week. The last time he came Sasha for some reason had started calling Harry ' Henry' and even though Harry plays along with it and ignores it, I've asked her to stop and she's not listening. Sasha has never been the type to mis behave so badly but Louis is sure he knows why, he hopes he is mistaken but he knows he needs to have a chat with her soon.
" Dad please. I really need you to drive me and my friends to the movies"
Louis places the empty bowl into the dishwasher and continues over to the bench to wipe his hands on the towel.
" No, I'm sorry darling but I cant. I'm about to go back into work."
Sasha doesn't like hearing the word 'No' and Louis can't help but blame himself for that. When Eleanor was hospitalised Sasha became a mess, she was totally destroyed and unfortunately he completely over compensated by giving into everything she wanted. He just hated seeing her so distraught and heart broken. As time went on Sasha had learnt that all she had to do was bat her eyelids and say " Please Daddy" and she would win. That was working very well and true for her, however for Louis, her entitled attitude is starting to take a toll on him.
" You just got back from work like 2 hours ago!!"
" Yes but Harry called, there's some issues in the kitchen that need my assistance. I'm sure there's another parent available"
Sasha rolled her eyes as she walked over jumping up into the island bench stall.
" It's always Harry" she says quietly not meant for Louis ears.
" What did you say? I couldn't hear you properly"
Louis says as he searches the fridge for something to snack on for the drive to the restuarant." Nothing " Sasha responds.
He walks over to her placing a kiss to the top of her head.
" Be good tonight kiddo. I will try not to be too long. Keep me up to date with what you plan to do."
She smiles softly before trying one last time. She just couldn't help it.
" Drive us.....please Daddy."
Louis sighs and looks at his watch. Sasha starts to smile as she knows this look, he is going to cave in. She is just about to thank him as Louis message tone sounds. Louis reads the message then looks to Sasha .
" I'm really sorry. I've got to go. Lock the door if you go out. And don't forget to let me know if you leave."
Louis picks up his keys and exits out the back door, leaving Sasha sitting there utterly mad.
***************
When Sasha returns home from school on Friday she resumes her normal routine. She packs away her school bag, changes her clothes, grabs something to eat and heads to the piano. Sasha loves playing, her mum was a great pianist and ever since she can remember, her mum use to sit with her every day teaching her how to play and express herself through music. Every time she practises, she feels a sense of comfort, that she's somehow closer to her.
Sasha will get so wrapped up in her playing that she sometimes looses the concept of time. There was an incident not too long ago, where she sat there for 4 hours not realising it, she would have continued on if it wasn't for Louis who made her stop. This was one of those days. She wasn't Sure how long she had been practising when she heard a voice from behind her. A voice that once made her happy but now irritated her.
