Chaos in the Tea House

Chapter 6

Heisuke stands up and waves Huiyin to the wall. He takes out his tanto, standing behind the sliding paper door.

"Who is there?" He asks, waiting a while for a reply. The only response he gets is the howling of the wind. He lets out a sigh of relief and turns back to Huiyin.

"Hmm, I guess it is just the wind. I mean it was supposed to storm to-!?" Before he can finish his sentence a hand punches through the door, a feminine hand grasps Heisuke's shoulder. The long red nails of the unknown assailant tear into the fabric of his yukata, burrowing into his skin. He gets pulled through the door and Huiyin rushes after them, materializing her scythe. She runs outside and sees the figure on top of Heisuke, blinded by a vicious rage. Huiyin slices the woman's arm off, being met with a loud shriek.

"You bitch!" The creature shouts and turns her attention to Huiyin, who is completely unfazed. That's when it clicks.

"Oh, you are that thirsty girl from earlier. I knew there was something off about you. You're a succubus and you think that you can come take my husband from me. Well you better think again." Huiyin hissed and looked up at the succubus, her eyes begin glowing an ominous green. She holds up her scythe and easily sliced off her head. She runs over to Heisuke, holding his head in her lap.

"Hey, get up. You are okay. You should know by now that I can tell when you are feigning injury Heisuke." She says and he smiles up at her, saying

"I'm surprised that I got tricked into something like that. Hmm. I must be getting rusty." He sits up a little and sees a figure behind Huiyin. Heisuke raises an eyebrow and tosses a few kunai in the direction of the figure. They strike the figure and a thump is heard. Huiyin jumps to her feet and runs over, putting the back of her scythe against the figures neck.

"Damn. It's the man from earlier too. An incubus and a succubus duo. That's pretty weird, but okay. Well, at least the threat is gone for now. Still, why come back here and try to attack us?" She ponders, pacing around holding her scythe over her shoulder. Heisuke shrugs and wraps an arm around her waist.

"Let's worry about it tomorrow honey. Let's go to sleep." He suggests and she shakes her head. Heisuke sighs and replies

"I will stay awake and stand guard." Huiyin walks into the bedroom and lays down, falling asleep. Heisuke hangs a sheet over the broken door, leaning against the wall that was just inside of the door. He yawns a little and closes his eyes, beginning to fall asleep himself.

"Kita. Kita. Niiiiikiiiiitaaaaa~" Kokoro says, poking at a sleeping Nikita.

"Mmm, stop." Nikita mumbles, wrapping his arms tightly around Kokoro's waist. He snuggles up to him and starts to fall asleep again. Kokoro pouts and plays with Nikita's long hair, twirling it around his finger.

Naomi wakes up groggily and pulls away from Takahashi. She puts on one of Takahashi's hoodies, making her way out of his bedroom. She walks out into the courtyard and a metallic smell hangs in the hair. She covers her face with one of the hoodie sleeves and walks over to her parents room. She looks at the door confused and knocks on the remains of the door.

"Hey, mom, dad... are you guys okay?" She asks and steps in, only to have a blade held up to her throat. She drops down and kicks her dad in the ankle, shouting.

"What is the big idea?! Are you trying to behead me?" Heisuke rubs his back and apologizes.

"Sorry. Me and your mother were attacked last night by a succubus and an incubus, but we showed them. Right, Huiyin?" She nods and looks back at Naomi.

"It's fine for now. I feel like this might've been something your brother did. He likes starting trouble." Huiyin mutters and Naomi raises an eyebrow replying.

"I don't really think he would go all out like that, especially when he's hanging out with Kokoro." Her parents exchange looks and shrug, Naomi sighs and leaves there room. She walks into the main house and puts the tea pot on. She begins to make breakfast and sits in the kitchen reading the newest light novel she bought, being to distracted by her book. She didn't even notice Takahashi walk into the kitchen. He leans against the wall and asks

"Whatcha reading?" Naomi jumps and holds the book against her chest, sulking

"Don't sneak up on me like that... I'm reading a new light novel that came out. See." She says, holding the book up so he can read the title. He tilts his head and mumbles.

"The grandmaster of heavenly divination. Sounds pretty weird, but you enjoy that. I am going to finish making breakfast." He grabs the spatula and flips over the small panda shaped pancakes. Naomi marks her book and slides it into the hoodie pouch. She walks over to Takahashi hugging him from behind, burying her face into his back. He smiles to himself and the moment gets ruined by Nikita strolling in with Kokoro clinging onto his arm.

"Ah, yikes gross. Can't you guys get a room." He groans and covers Kokoro's eyes.

"Nikita we need to talk." Huiyin states, opening and closing her fan. Nikita walks over awkwardly and asks

"What is it?" Huiyin asks

"Would you have anything to do with a couple that attacked me and your father last night?" Nikita looks at her confused and asks

"Why would I do that? I might be a trouble maker, but I'm not that much of a trouble maker. The worse I would do is switch out Naomi's shampoo for pink dye, or maybe hide all of Takahashi's clothes. I wouldn't do something that would harm people.... Maybe." Huiyin looks around and asks

"Well, why did someone come after us then?"
