Kids ran through the mall, smiling and laughing with their friends. Adults scanning through clothes trying to find something that appeal to them. A girl stood behind a counter of a store named GAP. Between helping people find clothes and getting backhanded compliments about the things she wore, the girl known as Eloise, was tired. All she wanted was to make enough money to put herself through college and get out of the hellish town.

Eloise had just graduated from Hawkins highschool. Now she was saving up to get enough money to put herself through college out of state. She was stuck at this minimum wage job at the new mall that had just opened up. Starcourt mall was the new attraction in the small town of Hawkins, everyone and their moms have been coming here since summer break started.

The girl was happy her shift was almost over, only thirty minutes left and she was free to go home. Eloise thought about her sister for a moment, she'd been stuck at home for the last week. The brown skinned girl knew El's been itching to get out of the cabin for at least an hour. Eloise looked out at the ice cream parlor that was across from the GAP. She smiled knowing El is gonna love her even more when Eloise comes home with ice cream.

Eloise was clocking out when all of a sudden the power went out. She looked around to see the whole mall had no light, even the fountains had stopped working. The moment she turned around to get her bag and jacket, the power had turned back on. She furrowed her brows, the power rarely ever went out in Hawkins, she thought while putting on her black zip up.

She worked out of the store, saying bye to her coworker. Eloise walked to Scoops Ahoy, wondering what she was going to get for the both of them, her curly hair bouncing on her shoulders as she walked over. The girl walked in to see families and friends sitting at booths enjoying their ice cream.

She stood behind a group of friends, they were taking forever to pick out what they wanted. Between the giggling and twisting their hair, Eloise's patients was running out, she thought how long could it take you to pick out some damn ice cream. Finally the group of middle schoolers finished and got their ice cream. She walked up to the counter, looking at the ice cream and not the employees.

"Hi, can I just get two USS butterscotch, one in a waffle cone and the other in a bowl." Eloise said, still not looking at them and pointing at the ice cream she wanted.

"Alright, that'd be seven-fifteen." A deep voice said.

She got out the cash, finally looking up to hand them cash, her brow arched up to see Steve Harrington standing in front of her. Eloise's eyes were led to the female scooping ice cream, her eyes widened after recognizing her.

Robin Buckley. Eloise's not-so-small crush.

Eloise's was grateful that her hair was covering her dark eyes as she was trailing every move of the girl in front of her. She was in a trance, just admiring her.

"Here you go." Steve brought her out of her gaze, him handing her the ice cream. Their hands touching for a second. "Hey, you're Hopper's daughter right?" He asked with curiosity tracing his voice.

Eloise only nodded, wanting to get out of there.

"Well, you sure don't look like him." Steve said with a sly smirk as he leaned against the counter.

Eloise looked at him with a judgemental face before turning on her heel and leaving without saying anything. She was confused if that was supposed to be a compliment or insult, she always thought that her dad was quite pretty.

Robin looked at Steve with the same judgemental the girl had just giving him a moment ago. She opened a black marker, putting a tally mark under 'You Suck.' before turning back to him.
