A Pun to Ease the Tension

"Well have you tried telling her straight out that your into her?" Ruby looked at me with her silver eyes as we sat on a bench outside a restraunt eating some chinese food. I sighed poking at my fried shrimp. "I kissed her a few times... But..." I trailed off getting lost in thought.

Ever since Blake said those things to me I been depressed. It took Ruby only a couple days to catch on during her constant visits before pulling me aside. Thus the chinese food. "I'm sure you can swoon her sis. You had no trouble swooning people before."

She was right. I had no problems before so why am I having them now? Maybe it's because I had no trouble with them before I'm having it now. I love Blake. So how do I get her to love me back? Ruby broke into my thoughts again. "How did you even meet her?" I choked a bit on my soda. How was I supposed to respond to that? I never once lied to Ruby. If I lie now what will happen?

"I-I met her in a pet store." I stuttered a bit. Just keep it simple. No need for too much detail. "Oh..." Ruby replied, she added a follow up question. "Where's the cat you taljed about in your messages?" Ok. This is getting too close for comfort. How do I respond to that?

"Sh-she's around I guess. She loves exploring the outside world." That's not a lie right? Right?! Ever since Blake become close to a human she's been jumping from place to place looking around. Ruby put her soda down barrowing her eyes at me. "My dear sister Yang. Why are you lying to me?"

Well shit. That was the last thing I expected. Time ro lie for real. "L-lying? How could I ever lie to you Rubes? That would cause a big CATastrophe between us!" Always add a pun to ease the tension. I yried to shoot Ruby a reassuring smile but alas it fail. Instead it was replaced with the most terrifying sentence I wanted to hear. Especially from the sevond to last person I wanted to hear it from. Ruby sighed looking at me solemnly. "Changing animals into humans is illegal Yang."
