Total Money Makeover

Chapter 1- Introduction

Hey! My name Is Imani Jordan, I'm just an ordinary girl, nothing special.. in my neighborhood there are different groups of people.  

Hood and Suburbs.

I'm in the Hood, but my best friend Jacob lives in the suburbs! There are almost fights every day between the two. You'd get used to them after a while but why? Why do they fight? That's a question for later. 

At home, I'm sitting on the couch watching Tv with my dog. My dog's name is Rocko. My mom named calls my name. "Imani, your food is done, " I stand up and walk toward the kitchen, my dog stands up and follows. I grab the food and walk to the dining room table. I sit at the table and Rocko sits next to me on the floor. I look at my plate, Ah, Hamburger Helper as always.. I think to myself. I wait for my mom to walk to the table to feed Rocko some of it. And she does, she heads to her side of the table. I grab my fork and start scraping the food on the floor so the dog can eat it. Rocko eats the food. " Woo! Momma this food was greeatt!" I say. "Uh huh.." She says suspiciously. I stand up and throw my plate into the sink. All of a sudden.

Boom.

A gunshot rings through the whole house. Rocko stands up in a position to take on anyone willing to enter the house. My mom stands up from the table and slowly walks to the door, she unlocks the front door and opens it. I see her cover her mouth and rush outside. I rush behind her and Rocko follows. I see a man, middle-aged, motionless on the ground. My mom looks back at me, "Go get my phone!" I rush inside and grab her phone. I go over to her and hand it to her. I see her phone light up and she starts dialing a number.

"911 what's your emergency?" 

"I just found a man on my sidewalk, I don't think he's breathing."
