" drishu why the hell are you looking like a ghost?" Mumma threw the question at me as soon as I reached the dining table for my breakfast.
"ahhh... maa I couldn't sleep last night"
"Why?" she asked with confusion lacing her voice
" I had a couple of assignments to complete" I lied.
"you sure? she asked raising an eyebrow
"mhm."
" drishika why are you looking like a ghost?" my dad asked sitting at the table
THIS FAMILY!!! I CAN'T WITH THEM!
I took a deep sigh and continued eating my food.
My mom took that as a queue and explained my dad on my behalf.
"I am going to school" I stated
when I reached the main door, my mom came and said "stay away from boys. Okay?"
Ohh, mom! If only you knew me!
I just nodded at her.
It's not my issue that half of my friends are boys. I don't mind having boys as friends but my mom does. I like making friends despite their gender. Having friends just on the basis of their gender is pathetic for me.

"Chocolate is BETTER!"
"NOOOO!! BUTTERSCOTCH!"
"CHOCOLATE"
"BUTTERSCOTCH"
"CHOCOLATE"
"BUTTE---- CAN YOU GUYS KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT?? I growled at Vaani and Ruhi who were arguing for the past half an hour over whether butterscotch is better or chocolate.
But if I think butterscotch is nice but chocolate wins the game. Always. Chocolate for life! It would be nice to have an ice cream date with divyam. Isn't ---- wait! What the hell am I thinking? It's the side effect of having such idiotic friends.
" Ohh you please shut up! Just because you're not getting the boy you want doesn't mean we can't enjoy our time" Ruhi snapped at me and I could do nothing but just roll my eyes at her.
That was not what I meant.
Everyone was looking at them weirdly thinking that they are crazy which is basically true.
" drishikaaa!! what Ruhi is saying is true, even though you have been so grumpy from the first day of school. You were nothing like this before. Why are you letting that moron have such an impact on you?" Vaani said turning all serious. I took a deep sigh. I don't want to admit it but whatever she said is true. Every single word is true.
As our conversation came to an end the bell rang indicating that it is recess now. And again I found myself in his class with my squad. I was sitting there idle as I don't bring lunch with me mostly.
"Should I?" I questioned myself about the thought of talking to divyam who was sitting 3 benches away from me right now. I thought to give it a try to Trisha's suggestion of being friends.
I went near his seat. He was yet to notice my presence as he had his head down and eyes closed.
"Hey! Not feeling well?" I asked in a soft voice.
He tilted his head towards me and looked at me through sleepy eyes. I swear I love his eyes tho they are really small but I love them.
"yeah couldn't sleep last night," he said seating straight.
"Ohh" I couldn't sleep too... I wanted to add but it didn't matter.
"So...is drishika Mishra really talking to me?!" he asked with amusement dancing in his eyes.
"yep! You are lucky." I playfully smacked his shoulder.
There was a long awkward stop which gratefully divyam decided to break.
"you know Sameer really likes you," he said eyeing Sameer who just passed us. I just rolled my EYES at him.
"It's his choice to whether like me or not. He is sweet and nice but not my type" I told my opinion while looking at Sameer from the corner of my eyes.
"So what are your type then?" YOU! I wanted to say but again I couldn't.
After not getting my answer divyam asked "drishika?"
"huh?"
"what's your type?" he repeated his words.
"IDK but Sameer is a shy kind of guy which I don't like. It doesn't matter anyways. I am not gonna get into this stuff anymore" I said slightly taunting him.
He seemed to catch my meaning as he looked away.
"Well how's your new class?" he said diverting the topic and looking back at me.
" the environment is good but guys are terrible in that class," I said dramatically which caused him to chuckle.
Both of us stopped and looked at each other for some seconds and then we started laughing without any reason.
It felt good after a long period of time.
IT FELT GOOD.
After that, we talked about the things that happened in our lives in the last few months when the other was not a part of it. I noticed he was trying not to mention Ananya's name, and even if he was discussing something about her, he kept it short.
After the bell rang I bid bye to him and came into my class with a smile. When I entered the classroom I noticed all of my friends smiling like a maniac.
I sighed deeply knowing I have to tell everything in detail.
I think Trisha's advice is not really that bad.
