---Chapter 8: Beach Day---

Percy's Pov

It was a pretty hot summer day, even inside the Camp borders! Most of Camp was here at Fireworks Beach. The water was swarming with campers. The Stoll's thought that it would be a great time to bring out their ice cream vendor from Zeus knows where. Right now, I was lying on my towel under a shade tree. Lucky I found it, or else Annabeth and I would have to suffer being fried under the sun. Annabeth was currently reading next to me. No surprise there, I thought to myself. She wore her sea green bikini, showing off her perfect curves. I wore my navy blue swim shorts.

"Annabeth," I whined. "Can we please go in the water now? I'm dying!" Annabeth held up a finger to silence me. I crossed my arms. "Anna-"

"One more minute, Percy," she murmured, her eyes not leaving the page. I groaned. I love Annabeth to death, but does she have to read right now? It's getting hotter and hotter by the minute! I examined the water. Everyone was enjoying the cool water right now. But I have to wait for my girlfriend to finish reading so that we can both go for a swim. Man, I'm melting out here! I stared at the water, and an idea form in my head. Concentrating, I levitated the water to come towards me. Only a few of the new campers were amazed. The older campers just rolled their eyes.

          "Show off," Travis Stoll mumbled.

"Oh, don't mind me," I said to everyone, grinning. "Continue on with your beach day." Annabeth didn't even bother to look up from her oh-so-important book. I controlled the water so that I was being lifted up, yet surrounded by the refreshing water. I allowed myself to get wet. Annabeth, who was totally oblivious to what was happening just now, turned another page in her book. After a few minutes of swimming around in my magical-mini-pool-in-mid-air-that's-being-controlled-by-moi, Annabeth seemed to notice my silence. She finally lifted her head from her book. Annabeth's stormy grey eyes became as big as shields.

"What the Hades?!" she exclaimed, dropping her book and losing her place. I simply chuckled. Annabeth rolled her eyes. "My gods. Seaweed Brain, what are you doing?" she asked, her tone rising in shock. I shrugged.

"What? You wouldn't let me leave to go in the water, so I brought the water to me," I explained simply, smiling. Annabeth rolled her eyes, smiling as well.

"Well, Seaweed Brain, since I lost my page in my book and I'm totally burning here, lets go for a swim," she finally said, getting up and dusting the sand off of her.

"Yes!" I cheered. At that point, I lost my concentration and my mini pool dropped, along with me. I hit the ground, groaning. Annabeth rushed to my aid.

"Oh my gods! Percy, are you alright?" She asked, worry in her tone. I squinted my eyes to look at her. Time to mess with my girlfriend! I thought to myself. Annabeth searched for any damage to my body. I slowly put a hand to her cheek.

"Annabeth," I croaked out. She took my hand into hers. "I need. . . I need. . ."

"What do you need, Percy?" Annabeth asked. Every time she got worried, like now for example, her eyebrows would furrow together in the cutest way.

"I need you to. . ." I started slowly, acting hurt, "give me a kiss." I said smirking. Annabeth rolled her eyes, dropping my head from her arms. I felt my head make contact with something hard. "Ow!" I exclaimed, clutching my head. Annabeth punched my arm, causing me to cringe. "Annabeth, you punch hard," I said, rubbing my arm. I was trying to rub my head at the same time, but I probably looked ridiculous.

"Good," Annabeth said, glaring. "That's what I was aiming for," she said, getting up and walking towards the water. I jumped up and sprinted to catch up with her. Man, was she fast!

"Annabeth, wait up!" I said, still clutching my head. The pain in my arm was going away by now, but my head still hurt like Hades. Annabeth was storming towards the water, pretty pissed at my little act. "C'mon, Wise Girl! I was just messing around with you!" I said. Annabeth ignored me. I pouted and ran up behind her, grinning. From behind, I grabbed her and lifted her, running towards the water.

"Percy!" Annabeth screeched. I could just hear the smile she was trying to suppress. "Let me go! Seaweed Brain, when I-" Wise Girl never got to finish because I simply dropped her into the water. I laughed when Annabeth bobbed up, gasping. I braced myself for impact. No doubt she was going to yell at me. Instead of erupting in my face with rage, Annabeth began laughing. I smiled, still kind of confused. As if reading my thoughts, she answered, "I guess I was a little tense earlier. Sorry, Seaweed Brain." I shrugged.

"It's fine, Wise Girl," I answered before I began to swim around. I let the water soak me, feeling refreshed. Annabeth floated at the surface. From time to time ,as in, when I would yank her down, she would swim around with me. We splashed water at each other, laughing our heads off.

"Percy, you cheater!" Annabeth yelled out, laughing. I was using my super amazing son of Poseidon powers to block the splashes of water coming at me and to drench Annabeth with a wave worthy of Poseidon. I laughed.

We headed back to the shore, laying down on our towel, Annabeth nuzzling into the crook of my neck as I put my arm around her comfortably. Annabeth sighed with content as she played with my jet-black hair. We watched as the sun began to fall, it's reflection mirrored in the water. "Today was nice. Why didn't you urge me to get into the water earlier, Seaweed Brain?" Wise Girl questioned. "I was probably frying!" I rolled my eyes, grinning, and let out a small chuckle.

"Yeah, you were the one frying, little miss bookworm," I told her sarcastically. Annabeth whacked me lightly on my arm, smiling.

"Shut up, Seaweed Brain," she said, kissing my lightly on the lips, making my heart thump so loud that I was surprised Wise Girl couldn't hear it.

           Yup. A typical beach day.
