Beyond Worlds: Trapped in a Game

Part 3: A third and a fourth make their entrance.

Victor was a rich guy. He always had money because he was the son of Phoenix Wright. After Daystar Industries funded his dad, most of that money got passed down to him.

But Victor wasn't a snob or spoiled. He was a nice, chill guy you'd want to hang out with. He knew when to get serious and used his money to make more, not just living off his dad's wealth. So, Victor was relaxing and enjoying life. Meanwhile, Xavier was having a rough time.

Xavier had been studying to become a prosecutor and wanted to go to Themis Law Academy (yeah, like in Ace Attorney). But he kept failing, and recently he got stuck in the backrooms, so his mind wasn't in the best place. After another failed attempt to get the school's attention, Xavier was sulking on his couch.

Then, both Victor and Xavier saw the same portal that Zero and Karma had been sucked into. They stared at the portals in shock, unsure of what to do.

Victor: "Whoa... what is this thing?"

Xavier: "It looks so weird..."

Both were curious to see what would happen, but they didn't have the chance. The portal pulled them in. Xavier tried to resist but was yanked in. Victor tried to escape but couldn't. As they flew through the portal, they saw their memories.

Victor saw the first time he received his money, his dad's trials, and discovering who his real mom was. Xavier saw horrible things: the entities he encountered in the backrooms, the levels he had to endure. They both blacked out and landed in the grassy field, right in front of Zero and Karma. Zero and Karma were shocked to see Victor, and even more surprised by the random guy with him.

Zero: "Whoa! Hey Victor... fancy seeing you here."

Karma: "Oh great! Now Victor's here with us!"

Victor: "Ugh... hey guys..."

Xavier: "..."

Karma: "Hey... who's the other guy?"

Zero: "I don't know..."

Victor and Xavier stood up, looking confused. Xavier looked around in shock.

Victor: "Uh... Hello? Earth to new guy?"

Xavier: "Huh? Oh... hello? Who are you guys?"

Zero: "I'm Zero, the girl is Karma, and the other guy is Victor."

Xavier: "Oh. I'm Xavier..."

Zero: "Seems like we all ended up here."

Karma: "Yeah, long story short, we're in an RPG video game. We don't know much yet, so we need to move. But first, open your inventories."

Victor and Xavier looked a bit confused but did as told. Xavier had a dagger as his starter weapon and his class was "Survivor," which reminded him of his time in the backrooms. Victor had a bow and his class was "Range." He was confused but okay with it.

Zero: "Okay, so go over to those mustard guys and kill them. They'll help you level up, then we can move on."

Xavier and Victor: "Should be easy enough..."

Xavier and Victor quickly defeated the mustard monsters. Xavier had some experience with a dagger from his time in the backrooms. They both leveled up to level 2, catching up with the others. As they stood together, a text bubble appeared above them: "Party Formed! Party bonuses are now enabled!" Everyone but Zero was confused.

Zero: "Okay, I see you're confused. Let me explain. Parties are groups of RPG characters controlled by players. But since we're real people, we aren't controlled by anyone. The 'game' thinks we're characters, so it calls us a 'Party.' Party bonuses give us more attack power, speed, defense, stamina, and stuff like that."

Zero explained how RPGs work. After that, they all decided to start their journey, exploring the vast world and trying to find a way back home.
