Shylock wants revenge for years of Antonio's mistreatment. Antonio hates people of the Jewish faith and always speaks badly about Shylock's merchant deals. Antonio has gone to high extents just because shylock was a jew, like spitting on him, pulling his hair, kicking him as if he was a street dog. This is the only reason or aspect due to which shylock does not seem completely in the wrong. Instead his side seems a bit explainable as in he was filled with rage and hatred which came out as his revenge towards antonio.
